April 17, 2008 – Bulls’ guard Thabo Sefolosha was on hand as Allstate Insurance Company unveiled a fully renovated basketball court at the Martin Luther King Boys & Girls Club on Thursday afternoon.
Beginning at 1 p.m., Sefolosha and more than 40 volunteers from Allstate debuted a $50,000 “Extreme Makeover” of the MLK Club gymnasium, courtesy of Allstate. The new club is equipped with bleachers, basketball hoops, safety pads, scoreboards and a refinished floor. Additionally, there is new weight room and swimming pool equipment.
To celebrate the occasion, Allstate provided more than 200 children who utilize the club with $5,000 worth of toys and Sefolosha led a basketball mini-clinic demonstrating passing, free-throw and shooting techniques.
The restored basketball court and other facilities at the MLK Club is part of an initiative to provide local children and families with a safe and attractive place to be active.
