October 30, 2008 – The Chicago Board of Education and Chicago Public Schools announced the approval to proceed with plans to create the Chicago Bulls College Prep, a Noble Street Charter School campus dedicated to providing world-class education for all Chicago students.

The Chicago Bulls organization will work closely with Noble Street to launch this campus and support the campus’s ongoing success. Noble Street Charter School brings a strong track record for academic success and enriched curriculum. The team’s $2 million donation will allow for the new campus to open its doors in August 2009.

In announcing the creation of this high school campus, Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf stated, “I have long believed that education is the key to solving most of the problems of society. In that spirit, we are delighted to be able to join forces with Noble Street based upon their proven track record of success in educating young people. We look forward in the coming years to having the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children.”

Chicago Bulls College Prep will deliver an educational model focused on three core values – scholarship, honor and discipline. Noble Street has hired Tyson Kane to serve as principal for the campus. He is currently a principal intern at Noble Street’s Golder College Prep campus.

Chicago Bulls College Prep will be part of the Chicago Public Schools district and will not require an admission test or tuition to attend. All Chicago students entering 9th grade will be eligible for admission, with a lottery system determining the final selection if applications exceed slots. Chicago Bulls College Prep is currently seeking a stellar faculty to serve the campus and recruitment for the first freshman class will begin this winter.

”We are delighted to partner with the Chicago Bulls organization to open Chicago Bulls College Prep. We believe that our partnership will enhance students’ motivation to succeed and we look forward to working closely with the Bulls to strengthen Noble Street’s commitment to health and fitness, which is a core value at all of our high school campuses,” said Michael Milkie, Noble Street Charter School superintendent.

A location for Chicago Bulls College Prep has not yet been determined. A formal announcement will be made in the spring of 2009.
