Bulls observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with local children

January 9, 2012 – In recognition of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, Bulls Ambassador Sidney Green and Benny the Bull spent Sunday afternoon with local children at William H. Brown Elementary School celebrating the civil rights leader’s birthday.

Beginning at 2 p.m., the Bulls personalities, along with children from Brown Elementary School, the Bulls/Sox Academy and the Small Fry Basketball League, watched a video showcasing Dr. King’s legacy on the civil rights movement. After the video, the group discussed the importance of Dr. King’s life.

Following the discussion, Green led the children in a unique basketball game where one of the team’s played with a disadvantage, such as playing with one hand behind their back. The game helped teach the children lessons on equality and sportsmanship.

As a special treat, each child attending received a certificate and Bulls gifts.
