Bulls donate books purchased through virtual book drive to local school

As part of the Chicago Bulls' Read To Achieve program, the Bulls, Rush University Medical Center and ComEd hosted a virtual book drive on Bulls.com to benefit Helen M. Hefferan Elementary School.

On February 23, 2010, Bob Love and Benny the Bull presented the school with $3,000 worth of math and science books that were purchased and donated to the virtual drive.

The books collected come just in time to motivate students to get excited about math and science as the 4th and 7th grade students at Hefferan Elementary will be taking the ISAT tests next month.

The Bulls, Rush University Medical Center and ComEd coordinated the virtual book drive as part of the Bulls' ongoing Read To Achieve program, which inspires literacy among Chicago's youth by encouraging families and adults to read regularly with young children. As part of its annual commitment, the Bulls host Reading Time Outs with local children, distribute more than 5,000 new books and organize literacy activities. Rush University Medical Center and ComEd are partners of the program.
