Bucks players to tip-off Read to Achieve Reading Challenge
Bogut, Mbah a Moute and Meeks to Read at Tomorrow’s Reading Rally

The Milwaukee Bucks and the Northwestern Mutual Foundation have partnered with the Milwaukee Public Library and Milwaukee County Federated Library System to tip-off the eighth season of the Bucks Read to Achieve Reading Challenge. The rally will begin Tuesday, December 15, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Bradley Center.
Bucks players Andrew Bogut, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Jodie Meeks will read and speak with over 500 young people about developing good reading habits, as well as stressing the importance of a good education. Students will also be encouraged to participate in the Library Reading Challenge at their local public library. The Bucks players are scheduled to arrive at 1:15 p.m., immediately following practice
Students in attendance will receive two complimentary tickets to the Bucks home game on Wednesday, December 23 against the Washington Wizards (7:00 p.m. tip-off). Participating schools include Bruce Guadalupe Middle School, Burdick Elementary, Cedar Hills Elementary, CEO Leadership Academy, Dover Elementary, La Causa Charter School, Milwaukee College Prep, Milwaukee Renaissance Academy and Trowbridge School of Discovery and Technology,
The Reading Challenge begins in libraries statewide on January 2, 2010 and runs through mid-February. The challenge is open to Wisconsin children in grades 3-10. Students score points for each page they read from a book, magazine or newspaper. Students that read 500 or more pages receive a free ticket to a Bucks game on Sunday, March 14 vs. Indiana and Friday, March 26 vs. Miami. Students reading over 750 pages will have their names entered into a drawing for an official Milwaukee Bucks autographed basketball and a chance to either participate in the Bucks starting line-up introductions or be recognized at halftime.
The event is part of the Milwaukee Bucks and Northwestern Mutual Foundation’s Read to Achieve Program, which is a year-round program designed to help young people develop a life-long love of reading.
