Fond Du Lac Police Department Recognized as Monday's KAPCO Homecourt Heros


The Milwaukee Bucks and Kapco, Inc. will honor the Fond du Lac Police Department as the Kapco Homecourt Heroes on Monday, April 11 when the Bucks host the Toronto Raptors at the Bradley Center (7:00 p.m.). The Homecourt Hero presentation will take place on the court during the third timeout of the second quarter. Kapco’s President Jim Kacmarcik will make this presentation to the Fond du Lac Police Chief Tony Barthuly in honor of the bravery and sacrifice demonstrated by the entire Fond du Lac Police Department during a standoff on March 20.

More than 10 representatives from the Fond du Lac Police Department will be in attendance, including Officer Ryan Williams, the department’s K-9 officer who suffered chest and upper body wounds during the recent incident. Craig Birkholz, who survived combat tours to war zones before returning to Fond du Lac to work as a law enforcement officer, tragically died at the scene. His wife Ashley Birkholz, parents William and Gay Birkholz and brother Paul Birkholz will also be honored and present Monday for Craig’s heroic efforts.

Other representatives from the Fond du Lac Police Department that were involved in the recent incident attending Saturday’s game include Chief Tony Barthuly, Detective Jeff Harbridge, Rick and Maryann Czarnowski (parents of Ashley Birkholz), Captain Jon Gutzmann, Lieutenant Jason Laridaen, Officer Zach Schultz, Officer David Raddatz, Officer Brian Willis and Lieutenant Aaron Goldstein.

This is the fourth season of the Kapco Home Court Heroes program.
