Harley-Davidson revs up Bucks sponsorship

MILWAUKEE -- Harley-Davidson Motor Company is teaming up with the Milwaukee Bucks on a multi-year agreement to sponsor the team during its home games in Milwaukee, which will reach a diverse audience of NBA fans in the U.S. and around the world.

Harley-Davidson’s sponsorship of the Bucks includes an in-game “Rev Up” feature designed to fire up the fans with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle ridden onto the Bradley Center court. In addition, Harley-Davidson will appear as a courtside signage sponsor at all Milwaukee Bucks home games played in the Bradley Center.

“We’re excited to team up with the Bucks and NBA basketball here in Milwaukee,” said Mark-Hans Richer, Harley-Davidson Chief Marketing Officer. “It offers us a unique opportunity to support the home team in our community while reaching out to the NBA’s diverse audience base, which is a segment in which we continue to focus. The NBA also reaches international markets, which are becoming a larger part of our business as well, even in places where we’re just getting started, like China.”

Global interest in professional basketball and the NBA continues to grow through the development of the game, the league and players around the world. “As the game of basketball becomes increasingly popular around the world, it provides that much more opportunity for teams and communities to reach new fans,” said Ron Walter, Vice President of the Milwaukee Bucks. “We appreciate the opportunity to have the support of Harley-Davidson, which is one of the world’s most recognized brands.”

Harley-Davidson has seen interest in its motorcycles, products and services increase globally in recent years. “We know that Harley-Davidson enthusiasts around the world are passionate about their motorcycles and NBA fans are also passionate about the game of basketball,” said Rod Copes, Harley-Davidson Vice President and Managing Director of Asia-Pacific. “Harley-Davidson continues expanding its international appeal and we believe supporting the Bucks is a great way to add to that momentum.”

The Milwaukee Bucks are celebrating their 40th anniversary season of competition in the National Basketball Association (NBA). General Manager Larry Harris and Head Coach Larry Krystkowiak lead the Central Division squad. The Bucks won the NBA Championship in 1971 and became the only professional sports expansion team to win a league championship in the third season of play, a mark that still stands. The team has captured two Conference Titles (1971 and 1974) and thirteen division titles. Since 1968, the Bucks have played before 90 percent capacity crowds. The Bucks are owned by U.S. Senator Herb Kohl who is in his 23rd season of ownership.
