MILWAUKEE, November 14 (AP) -- Desmond Mason hit a 14-foot jumper with 13.6 seconds left, and Memphis' Pau Gasol missed a tying 3-pointer, giving the Milwaukee Bucks a 102-99 victory over the Grizzlies on Wednesday night.

Michael Redd scored 31 points, and Andrew Bogut had 23 points and 12 rebounds to help Milwaukee overcome a bad early shooting effort.

The Bucks, who have won all three of their home games but lost all four on the road, built an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter.

But the Grizzlies refused to go away, nearly tying it when Mike Miller missed the second of two free throws with 2.5 seconds to play. Gasol, who had 16 points, missed a 3-pointer from the right corner as time expired that would have tied the game.

Memphis whittled the Bucks' big lead to 96-95 with just under 2 minutes to play. Redd hit two free throws to make it 98-95, but Rudy Gay, who had 26 points, hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 98 with 34 seconds left.

On the Bucks' next possession, Mo Williams set a screen for Mason, who hit the jumper over Darko Milicic to give the Bucks a 100-98 lead.

Williams then stripped Kyle Lowry on his drive and was fouled after the steal.

Williams added two free throws to make it 102-98.

Miller was then fouled by Bogut, and made a free throw before Gasol's miss.

Postgame News and Notes

Yi Jianlian (8) and Andrew Bogut (6) combined for 14 of the Bucks’ 19 rebounds in the first quarter.

Charlie Villaneuva scored 13 of the Bucks’ first 15 points to open the second quarter before being removed from the game with 5:07 left to play in the half. The Bucks’ leading scorer going into the half, Charlie V. was held scoreless the rest of the night.

Home sweet home: The Bucks remain undefeated (3-0) at the Bradley Center, though the team is still looking for their first victory outside of Milwaukee (0-4). With four of their next five games in the Brew City, they’ll get their next shot at a road win against the Cavaliers next Tuesday in Cleveland.

The Grizzlies began the second half with a tear, outscoring the Bucks 16-6 to take a 4-point lead.

Bucks responded with a 25-14 run to close the third quarter with a 7-point lead.

The Bucks shot a season-worst 34.6% from the field in the first-half, taking a 6-point lead into the half largely on the strength of second-chance points. The home team had 13 offensive boards, compared to just 4 for Memphis.

Andew Bogut had his third double-double of the season, securing this one by the beginning of the fourth quarter. He finished with 13 rebounds and a season-high 23 points.

Michael Redd’s 31 points were the most by a player in a game featuring the Bucks this season. The previous high was the 28 scored by Yao Ming Friday night in Houston.

Block party: The Bucks bettered their season average 5.3 blocked shots per game with 6 more tonight.

The Bucks have dominated the Grizzlies as of late. Tonight was Milwaukee’s third straight victory over Memphis, and their sixth in eight games.

The Bucks improved to 2-0 when scoring 100 or more points, and 3-0 when holding opponents to under 100.

Larry Krystkowiak

(On what woke up the offense in the second half…)
“I’m not sure. We had 52 shots in the first half and we were shooting in the 30 percentile again but we were able to bring a lead into the locker room. It wasn’t like they were bad shots. We missed a number of open shots. At some point we’re going to kind of come out of the funk.”

(On working the ball inside...)
“We wanted to try to establish the post a little bit and we got Desmond (Mason) some looks. We tried to be a little bit more aggressive, and obviously Michael (Redd) got heated up from the perimeter, and that certainly helped. It was good to see the ball go through a couple of times. It’s been a struggle for us statistically and not what any of us expected. I thought we did a decent job defending. They had a lot of different weapons and the defense is basically what kept us in the game and gave us a chance.”

(On Andrew Bogut’s job defending Pau Gasol and other big men…)
“If you look at Andrew’s last four or five games, his match-up hasn’t been very attractive when you’re talking about the quality of players. Duncan, Yao, Howard, and Wallace. It seems like every night somebody else comes at him and he’s been doing a very workmanlike job inside and kept himself out of foul trouble.”

Mo Williams

(On the play that put the Bucks up 100-98…)
“They kind of crowded me so I hit Desmond (Mason) and kind of brushed his man so he could have a drive to the lane, and my man stopped and cut him off. (Mason) works on that shot every day in practice, so I was confident.”

(On the key to the offensive success…)
“It’s just making shots. We had great shots in the first half and we just weren’t making them. We just stayed with it and stayed confident. We’re a good offensive team. We just haven’t found our groove yet, but better that it’s early than late.”

Michael Redd

(On the offensive performance in the second half…)
“Just be more aggressive. Coach let us go. We ran some plays, but shots were falling definitely. We just have more confidence. It always feels good when shots go in, that’s how you win games. Obviously defense is going to help win games, but you need to put the ball in the basket.”

(On the successful shooting in the second half…)
“Confidence. Just go play, play and attack. Be in attack mode always. The results were we shot the ball extremely well in the second half. It’s always good when you make shots.”
