BANGO WILL CONTINUE TO SET PACE BEFORE AND AFTER SURGERY
Knee injury suffered at NBA Jam Session performance during All-Star weekend
February 18, 2009
Bucks mascot Bango has announced that he will continue to set the entertainment pace at Bucks games before and after undergoing knee surgery in late March. The popular mascot suffered a right knee injury while entertaining All Star fans at Center Court at the NBA Jam Session in Phoenix during All Star Weekend.
While gazelle-like dunks and agile maneuvers around the court will be impossible for a time, the heart of Bucks game-night entertainment and the emotional leader of Bucks fans of all ages will continue to lead fan enthusiasm at home games. He will miss few – if any – home games, and the Energee! Dance team, Hoop Troop, Rim Rockers, Air Bango, Super Force, and newly formed Bucks Wild! percussion drumline will continue to fill the court in support of Bango.
“All of the entertainment elements and their performers have bought into our new initiative: Care Bango,” Director of Game and Event Presentation Mike Schnieders said. “They all care about Bango and will assist him in his recovery and continued contribution to Bucks games throughout the rest of the season. We’ll be adding some Care Bango enhancements and announcing the initiatives in the coming days. In the meantime, we look forward to Bango’s speedy recovery.”
Bango will be a part of Sunday’s Bucks Sponsor Mascot Rally during halftime of the Bucks-Nuggets game at the Bradley Center, and is expected on the court tonight when the Bucks host Chicago.
The ageless Bango has brought smiles and thrills to Bucks fans at home games, appearances, parades, school assemblies, hospital visits, festivals, and everywhere Bucks fans celebrate since 1977. He has performed throughout the United States, Canada and in China.
