The surgical procedure was performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. David Altchek, M.D., at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY.

“Charlie is a significant part of our team’s development and future success,” said Harris. “Today’s surgery is the first step in having him healthy for next season. Charlie understands the importance of his rehabilitation during the off-season. We look forward to working with him to have him at full-strength for training camp in October.”

Villanueva will begin rehabilitation immediately for a period of four-to-six months. He is expected to make a full recovery and be available for the open of training camp for the 2007-08 season.
