Bucks Unveil New Uniform Identity

September 28, 2006 - The off-season of “new” continued for the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night at the Bradley Center as the team revealed new home and road uniform styles for the 2006-07 season. The uniform premiere was part of the team’s Season Tip-Off party and more than 3,000 season subscribers and guests were expected to attend.

After members of the Bucks roster were introduced to the audience, Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut, wearing the new home jersey and road jersey, respectively, made their entrance. They emerged out of darkness to the Bradley Center floor, wearing the new Adidas-designed uniforms and warm-ups. The home whites, made of “shimmer” fabric, display an updated Bucks nameplate in red and green, with red and green trim down the sides. The road uniform is forest green and is trimmed in white and red, while featuring a white and red-trimmed nameplate.

“We love the new uniforms,” said Bucks General Manager Larry Harris. “The colors are strong and bright, and the fabric is the shimmer variety that has become popular in the NBA over the past few years. We know the fans were excited to see the new jerseys and we hope they like
them as much as we do.”

“This entire identity transformation process has been an exciting one and we want to sincerely thank the NBA, their licensees and everyone involved for their assistance,” he added.

Christopher Arena, NBA Vice President – Apparel, Sporting Goods and Basketball Partnerships, said, “The Bucks have effectively taken the equity built in their logo identity and married it with a color palette of the past. The enhanced details in the wordmarks, coupled with the retained shape, show that the new logo is truly representative of the direction of the team, while still recognizing its history. The uniform is an extension of the new direction with its new, clean design lines and coloration.”

Earlier this summer, the Bucks unveiled an updated logo and replaced purple in the logo with a sophisticated, deep red. Silver was added to the forest green color, which has been a part of the Bucks color
scheme since their inception back in 1968.

A new playing court design, featuring the new logo and a shaded three-point zone, was also featured tonight at the Bradley Center for the first time. Earlier this season, the design was completed at the Bucks Training Center in St. Francis. A new Spalding Official NBA basketball was introduced on June 28, featuring a new design and make. The new ball is made of a new microfiber composite, providing a better grip and feel, along with a consistency that exceeds that of the previously-used leather ball.

New Bucks logo merchandise and replica jerseys are available by visiting Bucks.com and clicking on “NBA Store”. The Bucks Bradley Center store also carries a full line of new logo merchandise and will have adult replica jerseys at the team’s preseason game against Dallas on Saturday, October 14. Youth jerseys are on sale at the Bradley Center now.

The uniform unveiling completes the two-year process of the Milwaukee Bucks identity transformation engineered by NBA officials, Bucks management and league licensees. The updated logo, new color scheme and new uniforms have all been revealed in the last three months. The Bucks open their 2006-07 training camp on Monday, October 2 with Media Day at their training center. Practices begin on Tuesday.
