Bucks Re-Sign Gadzuric To Multi-Year Contract
“Dan is an extremely active player who has improved every year he’s been with us,” said Harris. “He plays with high-energy and runs the floor extremely well. Last season he showed he can be a strong presence on the inside as a rebounder and shot-blocker, and we’re looking for him to continue that aggressive play this season and beyond.”
Gadzuric, 27, enters his fourth NBA campaign coming off a breakout season in 2004-05 where he averaged a career-high 7.3 points and 8.3 rebounds in 81 games. He finished second in the league in rebounds per 48 minutes (18.1) and first in the NBA in offensive rebounds per 48 minutes (7.0). Gadzuric posted a team and career-high 19 double-doubles on the season, including a 21-point, 20-rebound effort at Philadelphia on April 18.
“Dan gives us another young, athletic big man to help anchor our defense,” said Bucks Head Coach Terry Stotts. “He’s taken steps every year to get better, and I believe he and Andrew Bogut will complement each other very well.”
In three NBA seasons, Gadzuric has averaged 5.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots in 205 games. He has led the Bucks in blocked shots and field goal percentage in each of the last two seasons.
“I want to thank Senator Kohl, Larry and everybody for believing in me,” said Gadzuric. “I’ve always loved playing for the fans here in Milwaukee and I’m very happy to be staying where my career began. Next year is going to be exciting for us and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
