Head Coach Scott Skiles

What happened after halftime?

It’s reminiscent of a lot of games from last year where we come out in the third quarter and we missed two or three really good looks right off the bat, and our defense started collapsing a little bit. They built a lead and we tried to come back, but we just didn’t have enough.

What are your thoughts on Brandon Jennings debut here tonight?

I thought offensively he was very good, especially considering it’s his first game. Obviously, you have to be blind to not be able to see some of the gifts he has. But, defensively he’s got a long way to go. He works out, and we’ll keep working with him. He almost had a triple double in his first pro game. He looks like a legitimate pro guard, there’s no question about it.

What do you think the Sixers did in that third quarter that they didn’t do in the first two?

I don’t want to take credit away from them, but again, we came out and had a layup to start the third quarter by a 7-footer and you have to make that if you want to win in the NBA. We missed several dunks. We have respect for the Sixers and we think they’re a good team. It was more that we self destructed.

What happened in the second half?

We had it under control in the first half. We had a couple key mistakes like missing layups in the third quarter, and shots just weren’t falling like they were in the first half. But I still thought we could’ve won and should’ve won this game. Like I said before, I just want to win so I’m a little upset, but we have another one tomorrow so we have to go get that one.
