“We did a respectable job on Carmelo (Anthony), he shot 10 for 25 from the field. We did a decent job on Amar’e (Stoudemire), he got into foul trouble, and we did ok with Chauncey (Billups). And Toney (Douglas) had a big impact on the game, he took our point guards out of the anything they could run offensively, he came in, got hot, made shots and we had trouble controlling him. These are pro players, guys that will go out and do something about it themselves. Our defense overall wasn’t as sharp as we would want it be, especially in the first half we were kind of on the weak side, they had 30 points in the paint. We did a better job in the second half, but overall it wasn’t our typical defensive game we play. There is very fine line between winning and losing in this league and there are plays at those moments that need to be made.”
On Carmelo Anthony:
“If before the game you told me Carmelo would go 10 for 25 I’d take it. We did a respectable job guarding him. We battled them pretty tough like I said. Carmelo doesn’t have many shooting nights like that, so we’ll take that.”
On performance of Stoudemire, Anthony & Billups:
“It’s one game and those are all great Olympic caliber players and they looked good out there. Neither of them shot the percentage they’d like to out there, but it’s one game and they haven’t even practiced each other yet.”
DEFENSIVE INTENSITY – The Bucks have been stressing the importance of defense in 2010-11 and are third in
points allowed (92.7), seventh in defensive FG percentage (44.5) and defensive 3-point FG percentage (33.9), and
have held 42 of 56 foes under 100 points, or 75.0 percent of their opponents (tied with Miami for the most). Those
numbers are an improvement on their numbers after 56 games last year, when they were allowing 97.3 points
(13th), 45.6 field goal percentage (13th), 35.0 3-point percentage (16th) and 30 of 56 foes under 100 points.
STAT STUFFER – Brandon Jennings stuffed the stat sheet Tuesday night against the Timberwolves, recording 27
points, seven assists, three steals and two blocks. It was Jennings' 12th performance with 20 or more points this
season. In those contests, the Bucks have gone 7-5. The Bucks are 3-0 in games where Jennings has scored 20+
points and dished out seven or more assists. The guard has scored in double digits in six of his last seven games.
In those seven, Jennings is averaging 15.6 points, 3.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 steals.
BIG MAN'S BLOCK PARTY – Andrew Bogut recorded four blocked shots Tuesday night, for his third consecutive
game with multiple blocks. Over the past three, the Bucks big man has had 12 rejections for an average of 4.0 per
game. Bogut has had a total of 35 games with multiple blocks this season, which ties him with Amar'e Stoudemire
for second in the league. Earlier this season, from Nov. 13 – Dec. 15, he recorded multiple blocks in 10 straight
contests, which stands as the second-longest streak of its nature this year.
NEARING NUMBERS – With his four blocks Tuesday night, Andrew Bogut is (585) is now two blocks away from passing Ervin Johnson for third place in
franchise history in blocks. A few other milestones on the horizon include: John Salmons (497) needs three 3-pointers for 500 and, at 648, needs two games
for 650 in his career. Keyon Dooling (649) needs one game to reach 650. Brandon Jennings (204) is 28 3-pointers away from passing Toni Kukoc and Lee
Mayberry (231) for 10th place in franchise history.
The Bucks face New York tonight after defeating Minnesota 94-88 at home last night. Tonight is the closing
game of the Bucks 16th set of back-to-backs this season. The Bucks are 6-9 in the second half of B2Bs.
Jon Brockman tied his career-high in rebounds with 14 boards in the Bucks win over Minnesota last night.
The Bucks outscored the Timberwolves in fastbreak points, 17-2. In the past two games, the Bucks have held
a 29-11 (14.5-5.5 per game) advantage in that category.
Milwaukee's bench has outscored their foes 32.8-15.0 per game (164-75) over the last five.
Corey Maggette has made a big impact for the Bucks in 2011. Since January, he's been averaging 16.0 points
(10.6 in Oct-Dec 2010) on 48.2 percent shooting (39.4), 36.0 percent from three (25.0) and 84.6 from the
charity stripe (81.5), as well as 4.6 rebounds (3.4) and 1.9 assists (0.9).
With their win over the Timberwolves Tuesday night, the Bucks wrapped up their four-game homestand with a
2-2 record. After returning from tonight's game at NY, the Bucks will be at the Bradley Center for another four
consecutive games and six of the next seven. On the season, the Bucks are 14-13 at the BC.
