Milwaukee Bucks players and coaches joined with Sams Hope for Literacy Foundation on Tuesday, Jan. 31st.
They hosted 300 Milwaukee Public School children for an afternoon of fun and learning at Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin.
The importance of staying in school and reading was emphasized to the students from four Milwaukee schools.
After exploring the Discovery World exhibits before players and coaches arrived, the children created reading-inspired murals for their schools with the help of the Bucks team.
A "Reading Rally" later commenced at Discovery Worlds Pilot House, where a player or coach read a story with the group, and the entire team talked about the importance of staying in school and reading.
The students also got to pick out brand new books to take home for their own libraries, donated by Sams Hope for Literacy.
The student-player produced murals will be on display at the Bradley Center on Tuesday, Feb. 11 during the Bucks-Magic game for the public to enjoy.
