Bucks players, along with coaches and mascot Bango, will be hosted over 1,000 Milwaukee grade school students for an afternoon of reading and entertainment at the 16th annual Bucks and Sam's Hope Literacy Foundation Book Blast Wednesday afternoon after practice.
The afternoon was geared toward building a love of reading in students.
When the students arrived, they selected a brand new book, donated by Sam's Hope Literacy Foundation, to take home for their own personal library.
The students also had the opportunity to “pay it forward” by selecting a second book to give to a family member or friend.
Following the book distribution, the students were treated to a performance from Bango and other members of the Bucks entertainment team.
Players and coaches joined in on the fun, dividing the students into smaller groups in order to read and discuss the books with them, and speak on the importance of this year's season-long “Words Matter” initiative.
