Giannis on his rookie season with the Bucks.
It was a wonderful year for me. It was fantastic. Even better than I expected.I had a slow start, because I hadn’t realized where I was. I didn’t know what the team needed from me. But after that it was great because coach Drew trusted me and John Hammond and the rest of my teammates showed faith on me and the season had a perfect end for me.
On where he’s trying to improve for next season.
I am trying to improve everything. Shooting, dribbling, strength of my body. Everything. My main concern though is my shot and I spend extra hours daily working towards that cause. I don’t know what to expect for next season, but I want to be more aggressive and play the best I can.
On his brother Thanassis getting picked by the Knicks.
It was great and I was really happy for my brother. I thank God for being there with my parents and my younger brothers, rooting for Thanassis. My parents visited New York for the first time. They were dreaming about visiting New York. So did my younger brothers. I believe that the Knicks drafted my brother in order to keep him and not send him in the D League or in Europe. I believe that he can secure a spot on the Knicks roster.
On his new teammate Jabari Parker.
To be honest I wasn’t aware of him since I don’t follow college basketball. But on early June, I read that he was going to be one of the top picks, so I started watching him, since I knew the Bucks were interested. I had the chance to meet him and he’s a great kid. I saw him during his workout in Milwaukee. He’s a terrific player and he’s going to have a great career. I am happy that he’s with the Bucks. I talked with him and we will join forces in the Summer League. He’s a great shooter and I am the kind of teammate that likes to share the ball. I will create a lot of open looks for him.
On coach Drew.
I was sad when I first heard about it, because he was my first NBA coach. What can I say? I wish him all the best. I posted a photo of me and coach Drew on my Facebook page, from my first NBA game at Madison Square Garden. I played like four minutes there. Coach saw that I was stressed, lost and confused and he approached me telling me to relax and just play my game.
On new Bucks head coach, Jason Kidd.
Every coach has a different style and approach. I believe that coach Kidd will help us because we are a young team that enjoys playing on the open court. That’s the style of basketball I love, playing on the open court.
