Lorrenzo Wade

On today’s workout…
“The workout was pretty good. The big guy (John Bryant) really surprised me, and Dar Tucker was very athletic and competitive. Everything was a competition. I really enjoyed it.”

On the Bucks workouts compared to other workouts...
“Each team has a different style. They’re all pretty different, but this was the first one where everything was a competition.”

On what he’d bring to the Bucks…
“Just being able to be versatile. I want to do everything I can to help my team win basketball games. Whether it be score points, rebound, be a great cheerleader. Whatever helps my team win, I’ll do it.”

On future workouts…
“This was the last one. I’ve worked out for three teams. The Bucks, New Jersey and New York.”

John Bryant

On today’s workout…
“It went good. Working out with guards as a big guy was kind of hard, because we had to do a bunch of ball handling stuff. But I’ve been working on it a little bit and my shooting on the outside. It definitely went well. I showed them I can shoot.”

On what he’d bring to the Bucks…
“I’m a defensive rebounder and defensive stopper. I love going against the best post player on the other team and trying to stop them. I bring some tenacity inside, and with my big size, I’m very physical. So, I bring a big, physical presence to the team. On the offensive end, I’m a great rebounder too. So I can provide great second chance opportunities, and I got a nice shooting touch.”

On future workouts…
“I’ve had five so far. I might go work out for Golden State. So maybe one more.”

Dar Tucker

On today’s workout…
“I think it went good. I played good defense, and I shot the ball well. I tried to do the things coaches were telling me to do.”

On his strengths…
“My aggressiveness. I have the body of an NBA player. I’m kind of big, so I think that helps me out a lot.”

On playing in the Big East…
“The Big East is very physical. Weight-wise, you have to be strong, even at the guard spot. I think that helped me a lot.”

On what he needs to work on…
“Being more of a point guard with my size and knowing the game. I’m more of a combo-guard right now.”

On declaring for the NBA Draft after his sophomore year at DePaul…
“I felt I was ready to go. It wasn’t anyone pushing me or trying to stop me from going. That was never a reason. I just felt like I was ready to take it to the next level and that’s what I did.”

On future workouts…
“I’ve already worked out for New Jersey, Golden State, Detroit and Oklahoma City. This was the last one. I’m kind of sad because it was fun taking the trips and going places to meet the teams.”

Bucks take one last look before draft

By Cherome Owens

With the NBA Draft just two days away, the Milwaukee Bucks held their last workout at the Cousins Center on Tuesday.

Dar Tucker (DePaul, 6-5, 215, sophomore), Lorrenzo Wade (San Diego State, 6-6, 225 senior) and John Bryant (Santa Clara, 6-11, 275 senior) all took part in the Bucks final workout in hopes of being selected by Milwaukee on Thursday.

The Bucks hold the 10th and 41st picks and are looking to select a player who will make an immediate impact in the 2009-10 season.

“Our mindset is when we draft a player, we expect them to play, and that player has to have that mentality as well,” Director of Scouting Billy McKinney said.

The three players at Tuesday’s workout are all considered second round prospects, if drafted at all. Tucker said that doesn’t mean he won’t have his television set during the NBA Draft.

“I’ll be in New York,” Tucker said. “I’ll probably be at a hotel, and I’m hoping they call my name. I’ll definitely be watching.”

The other two prospects at the Bucks final workout won’t have their mindset on the draft as much as Tucker.

“I’ll be in my studio in L.A. because I’m working out down there,” Bryant said. “I won’t be doing anything special, but watching it. I still have work to do.”

“I’ll be on Manhattan Beach (California) by myself,” Wade said. “I might even have my cell phone off. Someone might have to drive to my hotel door to tell me the news.”

The Bucks have worked out 60 prospects in the last month. Through the long process, they feel like they have enough information on each prospect and will land a good player in the draft.

“The day our season ended, we’ve sat down in our conference room and watched each of these players,” McKinney said. “So we feel like we have a great (understanding) of their skill set. And with the interview and workout process, we feel like we have a complete handle on them and are very comfortable with whoever might be there when we pick at 10.”

To celebrate the Bucks’ selections, the Bucks are inviting all fans to attend the “World’s Largest Draft Party”, presented by Miller Genuine Draft, on Thursday, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Summerfest, the “World’s Largest Music Festival.” Jim Paschke and Ted Davis will anchor the Bucks draft desk at Summerfest and provide analysis and updates on NBA Draft activity and provide the picks as they occur. FS Wisconsin sideline reporter Telly Hughes will also join the draft crew. A full menu of Bucks entertainment will be on hand, which includes Bango, the Energee! Dance Team, the Bucks Rim Rockers, Super Force, Cascio Interstate Bucks Wild Drum Line and Seniorgee (presented by the Village at Manor Park).

Most fans would agree with Wade that they have “no idea what’s going to happen” at Thursday’s draft. Blake Griffin is the projected top pick, but the rest of the draft is up in the air. So it should be a fun night.

And, before Thursday’s Draft Party, Bucks guard Salim Stoudamire will host the Milwaukee Bucks Experience Show at the Summerfest Sports Zone at 1 p.m.
