The Bucks defied the odds, but not in the direction they were hoping for. The Bucks had only a 23.18% chance of landing in the eight spot, but 8th it is in 2008. As it stood prior to the May 20th lottery, the Bucks would've picked 7th in the Draft. They had a 4.3 percent chance of landing the top selection, 4.93 percent on the second pick and 5.77 for the third slot. However, the odds suggested (60.0 percent) that they’d stay at the 7th spot. Central Division rival Chicago won the coveted #1 spot despite a 1.7% chance.
We know it's not the top spot, but Bucks fans should still be confident in the talent that can be gained at the 8 spot. Here are a few recent players drafted 8th overall in the NBA Draft:
2007: Brandan Wright
2006: Rudy Gay
2005: Channing Fry
2004: Rafael Araujo
2003: TJ Ford
2002: Chris Wilcox
2001: DeSagna Diop
2000: Jamal Crawford
1999: Andre Miller
1998: Larry Hughes
The Bucks have only had three picks at the #8 spot in their 40+ year history, and all three have been within the past 20 years:
1992: Todd Day
1993: Vin Baker
2003: T.J. Ford
