Bucks Draft Workout - 6/18/2015

The Bucks will host six more prospects at the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin Training Center Thursday morning. Two players with local ties, Josh Gasser, a Port Washington native who played his college ball at Wisconsin and Kiefer Sykes who played at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay will get to show their skills.

  • Named 2014 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and 2012 and 2014 Big Ten All-Defensive Team
  • Appeared in all 137 games (133 starts) of his eligible career, and started all 38 games on the Badgers 2014 Final Four team
  • Owns UW record for career starts and minutes played (4,774), and ranks third in UW school history with a career 2.17 assist-to-turnover ratio (min. 100 ast.), fourth in career free throw percentage (.843), and 10th in 3-point field goal percentage (.396)
  • Finished his collegiate career with 1,075 points, 575 rebounds and 284 assists, joining Michael Finley as the only two Badgers to post 1,000+ points, 500+ rebounds and 250+ assists in their career
  • Recorded the first triple-double by a freshman in UW school history after tallying 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists at Northwestern on 1/23/11, becoming the first Big Ten freshman to post a triple-double since Earvin “Magic” Johnson at Michigan State in 1977
  • Became first UW freshman to hit a game-winning buzzer beater (final second or as time expired) with his 3-pointer at the buzzer to win at Michigan on 2/23/11
  • Native of Port Washington, Wis., who was named the Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year and AP First-Team All-State selection as a senior in 2009-10, ending his prep career as the school’s all-time leading scorer, rebounder and free-throw shooter (by percentage)

  • Ranks 12th all-time at Boston College in scoring (1,725) and ninth in 3-pointers made (176) and became the third player in school history to eclipse 1,000 points as a sophomore 
  • In three years at Boston College, played in all 96 of the Eagles’ games, starting 95
  • Named 2013 ACC Freshman of the Year as the only unanimous choice for the ACC All-Freshman team, becoming the school’s first winner of the award since Troy Bell in 1999-00
  • Set the ACC freshman single-game scoring record with 41 points against Georgia Tech in the first round of the conference tournament, hitting his last 12 shots from the field. He connected on 8-of-10 from downtown in the game, tying Mark Price’s ACC Tournament record

  • Participated in the 2015 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, where he was named to the All-Tournament Team after he averaged 13.3 points, a tournament-high 12.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game
  • Named Third Team All-Atlantic 10 and First Team All-USBWA District 1 as a senior, when he started all 32 games at center and led the Minutemen in points (11.6), rebounds (9.5), blocks (1.9) and field-goal percentage (.552)
  • Named to the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament All-Tournament Team last November after he averaged 15.0 points and 8.0 rebounds against Notre Dame (11/22/14) and Florida State (11/23/14)
  • Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and played three years of varsity basketball at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Fla., before committing to UMass

  • Scored a career-high 48 points on 12/17/14 at St. Francis (NY), the highest single-game point total in the country last season and tied for the most by a NCAA Division I player since Nate Wolters had 53 on 2/7/13 for South Dakota State
  • Competed at Delaware State for freshman, sophomore and senior seasons while spending his junior year at Division II St. Augustine’s (N.C.)
  • All-CIAA First Team selection at St. Augustine’s in 2013-14 and ranked third in the conference in scoring with 19.3 points over 28 games
  • As a high schooler, was a McDonald’s All-American nominee in 2009-10 after averaging 35.3 points per game and tallying two 50-point games to lead Covert High School to the Michigan state semifinals

 

Keifer Sykes

  • Earned Honorable Mention AP All-American honors in back-to-back seasons in 2014 and 2015, joining current University of Virginia head coach Tony Bennett as the only players in school history to win the award twice
  • Named Horizon Player of the Year the past two seasons, becoming the first Horizon League player to do so since Detroit’s Rashad Phillips in 2000 and 2001, and the fifth player to win at least two league MVPs
  • Averaged 18.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as a senior, helping the Phoenix to a 24-9 record and within one win of the program’s first NCAA Tournament since 1996 (lost 54-44 to Valparaiso in Horizon League Championship)
  • Selected as Horizon League Player of the Week a conference-record 13 times in his career, and was named a 2015 finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award
  • Participated in the 27th Annual State Farm College Slam Dunk Contest this past season as part of the 2015 Final Four festivities
  • Finished his career ranked second in program history in scoring, and is the only player in Horizon League history to accumulate 2,000+ points, 500+ assists and 400+ rebounds.

  • Named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and Third Team All-Big 12 Selection last season after he averaged 11.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and led the conference in field-goal percentage (.519)
  • Joined Wayman Tisdale as one of two players to wear a Sooner uniform to register at least 1,000 career points and 1,000 rebounds
  • Recorded one career 30-point game (31, 2/16/13 at Tulsa) and one career 20-rebound game (20, 11/09/12 vs. Florida A&M), both while at Houston
