Postgame News and Notes

Tonight’s loss drops the Bucks to 19-21 at the Bradley Center, and ensures the team a losing record on its home court for the second season in a row.

Tonight’s game was the Bucks’ third sellout at home for the season.

Tonight’s loss is the Bucks’ fourth in a four-game stint against teams from the Atlantic Division. The Bucks dropped to 3-15 against the Atlantic on the season.

With tonight’s victory, the Nets sweep the season series against the Bucks 3-0.

Richard Jefferson was a scoring machine for the Nets in the 1st quarter. Jefferson scored 14 of his game-high 24 points in the opening frame, including a stretch where scored 10 of 12 for the Nets.

Bucks rookie Ramon Sessions snagged his first double-double in the NBA, dishing out 13 assists and scoring 12 points.

Vince Carter added a double-double for the Nets, dishing out 10 assists with 21 points.

Each team had five players score in double digits. Three starters and two reserves pulled the feat on each team.

The Nets’ win tonight is just their second in eight games. New Jersey improved to 7-15 since the beginning of March.

The Bucks took a 12-4 run in 1st quarter. The Bucks took a 27-26 lead into the second frame.

The Bucks set a new season high in three-point percentage. Milwaukee sunk 6 of 10 (60%) from beyond the arc.

The Nets outscored the Bucks 18-6 to close the 3rd quarter.

Both teams shot over 50% tonight. The Bucks made 37 of 68 (54.4%) and the Nets sunk 45 of 80 attempted (56.3%).

Despite holding the Nets to an opponent season low 11 free-throw attempts, sending New Jersey to the charity stripe was bad news. The Nets sank all 11, including 5 of 5 by Devin Harris and 6 of 6 from Richard Jefferson.

Larry Krystkowiak

(On tonight’s game…)
“Midway through the third quarter it was a two-point game and then we just got hit with a barrage of shots and had a hard time scoring ourselves. Up to that point I thought that we fought and stayed pretty competitive.”

(On playing short-handed in tonight’s game…)
“We didn’t have a whole lot of bodies tonight or last night. We both played back-to-backs so that wasn’t really an issue, but I thought we ran out of steam a little bit.”

(On the play of the bench players tonight...)
“I think Danny (Gadzuric) is taking advantage of the opportunity. Jake (Voskuhl) and those guys are solid. Awvee (Storey) and (Royal) Ivey, the usual guys that we’ve been talking about all year that are energy guys. Then without Ruff (Michael Ruffin), he hurt his ankle in the previous game, so that kind of set us back in the interior. We ended up having to play smaller than we normally do but that worked out okay because the Nets were small as well with (Bostjan) Nachbar playing the four. We pretty much evenly divided up the minutes and got after it.”

(On the third quarter tonight...)
“I think about halfway through the third quarter it was still a two-point game. Then things went haywire in about the last 18 minutes of the game. (The Nets) got a lot of open looks. They did a nice job of moving the ball around the perimeter. It seemed like we’d be on the third or fourth pass trying to close out on somebody and just weren’t quite close enough. We had a heck of a time getting stops.”

Desmond Mason

(On his offensive effort tonight …)
“I just wanted to be efficient with the opportunities I had. I tried to be aggressive and attack the basket to get to the free throw line and be aggressive toward the rim. I had some lanes and Ramon (Sessions) did a great job today of throwing the ball up and finding the ball in gaps. More than anything we’re continually disappointed with losing basketball games. We just have to stay professional and continue to play hard and finish the season on the right note.”

(On the third quarter tonight…)
“They hit some shots and we couldn’t get any shots to fall. We turned the ball over a little bit too much. I think overall they just picked it up a little bit on the offensive end and we got a little stagnant on offense. That’s been our recipe for disaster through the course of the whole season.”

Ramon Sessions

(On is first career double-double…)
“We’d like to get the win but to get a double-double in this league is a great feeling. My teammates have been pounding me because I’ve been coming close the last few games, but I just try to go out and play my game and it came to me. If my teammates wouldn’t have made baskets I wouldn’t have got it, so I have to tip my hat to them.”

(On his confidence now that’s he has produced consistently in the NBA…)
“Confidence is big. I’m getting more minutes and I feel like I’m getting a better rhythm for the game and a better feel for my teammates. I feel like I’m making the adjustment pretty well.”
