Bucks to Host 2013 Bowl for the Cure Event

Aiming to strike down cancer, the Bucks have teamed with the Milwaukee chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation to host their annual “Bowl for the Cure®” event. Presented by Columbia St. Mary’s, the event will take place at AMF Bowlero (11737 W. Burleigh Street, Milwaukee) on Friday, Feb. 8, with the goal of raising funds and promoting breast cancer research, awareness, education and treatment.

Both veteran and novice bowlers are invited to attend, with all proceeds benefiting Komen Southeast Wisconsin. Those interested in participating can register individually or as a team, and have the choice of two different sessions. Session one will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while session two will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Registration fees, which include two tickets to the Bucks’ Feb. 13 tilt with the Philadelphia 76ers, will vary in price from $30 to $50 depending on seat location.

With 700 bowlers expected at the tournament, participants are encouraged to register early as lanes fill up quickly. Bucks mascot Bango and members of the Energee! Dance Team will also be on hand to cheer on the bowling teams.

Each registered participant will receive:

  • Two games of bowling with shoe rental
  • Two tickets to the Bucks vs. 76ers game on Feb. 13 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center
  • A 2013 “Bowl for the Cure® t-shirt and gift bag

Bowlers are encouraged to collect at least $100 in donations, and those who do so will be entered in a raffle to receive four Courtside Club tickets to the Feb. 13 contest. There will also be a silent auction, treasure tree and 50/50 raffle at the event. Last year’s “Bowl for the Cure®” brought in over $42,000 for the Komen Foundation.
