What a year 2006 was. It began with a bang in January. Whether or not you saw the game in which Kobe Bryant scored 81 points, you can still picture where you were when you first heard about it. In June, Dwyane Wade catapulted himself into superstardom with a Finals ring, and suddenly, the "Dwyane or LeBron?" debate became that much more interesting. Spain won its first World Championship in September, going undefeated in nine games in Japan. Finally in October, Red Auerbach left us, but also left behind a legacy that will remain alive in the game forever.

Weaved through all these narratives were the scenes that composed them. They were the dunks that made your jaw drop, the dimes that made you say "oohhh!" and the game-winners that showed you what players were made of.
