A uma semana do final da temporada regular, explicamos os critérios de desempate que se aplicarão para definir posições e enfrentamentos nos NBA Playoffs 2006:

Duas Equipes:
a. Resultados de jogos um contra o outro
b. Melhor porcentagem ganhadora contra rivais da mesma divisão (só se o empate for entre equipes da mesma divisão).
c. Melhor porcentagem ganhadora na mesma conferência.
d. Melhor porcentagem ganhadora contra rivais de playoff na mesma conferência.
e. Melhor porcentagem ganhadora contra rivais de playoff na conferência oposta.
f. Melhor ponto diferencial entre ofensiva e defensiva.

Se tiver empate entre duas ou mais equipes:
a. Se for aplicável, campeões de divisão têm a vantagem.
b. Melhor porcentagem ganhadora acumulado entre o total de partidas que envolve as equipes empatadas.
c. Melhor porcentagem ganhadora contra rivais da mesma divisão (só se o empate for entre equipes da mesma divisão).
d. Melhor porcentagem ganhadora na mesma conferência.
e. Melhor porcentagem ganhadora contra rivais de playoff na mesma conferência.
f. Melhor ponto diferencial entre ofensiva e defensiva.

Nota: Se múltiples empates de equipes se reduzirem a um empate entre duas equipes, se utilizarão os critérios atuais correspondentes ao desempate entre duas equipes.
