O Paul recebeu 124 de 125 possíveis votos de primeiro lugar (623 pontos) por parte de um painel de jornalistas esportivos dos Estados Unidos e do Canadá. A eleição unânime do Paul se converte na maior votação para um só jogador desde que o David Robinson (San Antonio Spurs) conseguiu 100 por cento dos votos de primeiro lugar na temporada de 1989-90.

Os jogadores nomeados receberam cinco pontos por cada voto de primeiro lugar, três pelo segundo e um pelo terceiro. O Charlie Villanueva (Toronto Raptors) ocupou o segundo lugar com 248 pontos enquanto que o Andrew Bogut (Milwaukee Bucks) foi o terceiro com 98.
