Charlotte Bobcats President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Whitfield announced Wednesday that WNMX – MIX 106.1 FM will again serve as the official flagship radio station for the team’s game broadcasts for the 2007-08 season. WNMX – MIX 106.1 FM has carried Bobcats games since the team’s inception. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
WNMX – MIX 106.1 FM, a 34,000-watt station, will air all 82 regular season Bobcats games, the club’s eight preseason contests and any playoff action that Charlotte plays. In addition to the games, the station will air a 30-minute pregame and postgame show, as well as Bobcats Weekly; a one-hour show broadcast every Thursday night during the season.
“We are excited to announce our continued relationship with MIX 106.1,” Whitfield said. “This particular station gives us the ability to connect with as many fans as possible in the Charlotte region while also providing another quality outlet to showcase our team in the community.”
WNMX is owned by GHB Broadcasting and carries the best signal at night of any station in the Charlotte metro area, as well as York County in South Carolina. In addition to Bobcats games, WNMX carries a variety of college sports including Duke University, Appalachian State and East Carolina.
"We at MIX-106.1 FM are extremely pleased and proud to continue as the local radio voice for the Charlotte Bobcats,” said Tom Gentry, Mix 106.1 FM General Manager. “The Charlotte Bobcats play a prominent role in this region's developing image as a major national/international professional sports center and we applaud their recent staff additions, including a more visible, hands-on role by Michael Jordan."
