The Bobcats waived forward Eric Williams prior to Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The roster now stands at 14 players.
The 6-8, 250-pound forward appeared in five games for the Bobcats and averaged 2.6 points in 6.2 minutes. Charlotte acquired Williams, a 2009 second round draft pick and cash consideration from San Antonio on February 13 in exchange for Melvin Ely.
“He was a good teammate and a quality guy,” Bobcats General Manager & Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff said in his pregame press conference. “He helped some of the young guys in different situations in practices and everything.
“With Eric, it was just the people that we chose to play. It was that simple – to go with the young guys is basically what we wanted to do.”
Williams has played for six different teams during his 11 NBA seasons, including two different stints in Boston and stops in Denver, Cleveland, New Jersey, Toronto and San Antonio. He averaged 2.6 points in 5.5 minutes with the Spurs earlier this season.
