August 14 - 7:42 pm

Joe Smith, a 14-year NBA veteran, has reportedly agreed to a deal to join the Atlanta Hawks. Also, point guard Anthony Carter has agreed to a deal to remain with the Denver Nuggets.

August 11 - 4:02 pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to add to their roster. They will reportedly sign Leon Powe to a two-year deal.

August 10 - 7:17 pm

The Boston Celtics have added to their front line today by re-signing forward Glen Davis and adding former Atlanta Hawks forward/center Shelden Williams. Also today, the Philadelphia 76ers re-signed guard Royal Ivey.

Linas Kleiza and Von Wafer are heading overseas. Both players have signed with European team Olympiakos.

August 7 - 4:17 pm

One of our top-ranked restricted free agents, Marvin Williams, has agreed to re-sign with the Atlanta Hawks.

August 3 - 6:46 pm

Lamar Odom is returning to Los Angeles. The Lakers have re-signed our second-ranked unrestricted free agent to a multi-year agreement. Also, former Bobcats center Ryan Hollins has signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

August 1 - 9:18 pm

The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed guard Kevin Ollie.

July 30 - 9:05 pm

Indiana has made another move today. The Pacers signed forward Solomon Jones to a multi-year contract. Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors signed big man Rasho Nesterovic.

July 28 - 6:14 pm

Veteran point guard Earl Watson has signed with the Indiana Pacers, while the Dallas Mavericks have signed forward Tim Thomas.

July 25 - 8:27 pm

The San Antonio Spurs have signed center Theo Ratliff.

July 24 - 5:15 pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers officially signed Jamario Moon after his former team, the Miami Heat, failed to match an offer sheet.

July 23 - 8:13 pm

The Portland Trailblazers have signed one of the top remaining unrestricted free agents by agreeing to terms with Andre Miller. In addition, the Milwaukee Bucks have reached a multi-year contract agreement with Ersan Ilyasova.

July 22 - 9:25 pm

The Miami Heat continued to add to their front line today by re-signing center Jamaal Magloire. The Detroit Pistons continued re-shaping their squad, adding Chris Wilcox to the mix, while Indiana re-signed forward Josh McRoberts.

July 21 - 6:33 pm

Former Bobcats forward Sean May has agreed to sign with the Sacramento Kings.

Also, the Orlando Magic signed Matt Barnes to a two-year deal and the Toronto Raptors have signed guard Jarrett Jack.

July 20 - 8:15 pm

The Miami Heat have re-signed center Joel Anthony.

July 19 - 5:15 pm

Cleveland signed Jamario Moon to an offer sheet. The Miami Heat have one week to match the Cavaliers' offer.

July 17 - 7:34 pm

The biggest news of the last few days is that forward Paul Millsap is staying in Utah. The Jazz matched Portland's four-year offer sheet to Millsap on Friday.

July 14 - 9:52 pm

The Phoenix Suns began their attempt to replace Shaquille O’Neal by signing big man Channing Frye. Meanwhile, Indiana signed defensive specialist Dahntay Jones to a four-year deal and the Utah Jazz re-signed guard Ronnie Price.

July 13 - 10:18 pm

Two division opponents retained parts of their teams as the Orlando Magic exercised their right of first refusal and retained center Marcin Gortat, while the Atlanta Hawks re-signed Mike Bibby and Zaza Pachulia.

The team with the best regular-season record in the NBA last season continued to add to its roster. The Cleveland Cavaliers signed ex-Toronto Raptor Anthony Parker to a two-year deal.

The Chicago Bulls signed sharp-shooting Jannero Pargo to help add to their backcourt depth after losing Ben Gorden to Detroit earlier in the free agent period.

July 11 - 10:33 pm

The Dallas Mavericks aren't letting the fact that they've landed Shawn Marion deter them from making more moves. Sure, they might have lost forward Brandon Bass to the Magic, but they were able to re-sign guard Jason Kidd.

Cleveland and Phoenix also made moves, hanging on to players that might have signed elsewhere. The Cavaliers retained Anderson Varejao, while the Suns re-signed Grant Hill.

Meanwhile, the Spurs made it official and signed Antonio McDyess.

The Portland Trail Blazers now have to play the seven-day waiting game, as they have signed restricted free agent Paul Millsap to an offer sheet and must wait to see if Utah will match.

July 9 - 2:50 pm

Thursday saw the biggest move of 2009 free agency with Toronto, Dallas, Memphis and Orlando agreeing to a four-team deal that saw Hedo Turkoglu end up with the Raptors and Shawn Marion on his way to the Mavericks.

July 8 - 9:51 pm

The first day to officially sign free agents was a busy one around the league, started by Ron Artest officially becoming a Los Angeles Laker. Here is what else has happened since:

  • The Boston Celtics have officially signed forward Rasheed Wallace.
  • The Dallas Mavericks have signed Quinton Ross, formerly of the Memphis Grizzlies.
  • The Birdman will be back with the Denver Nuggets next season. Chris Anderson signed a multi-year deal with the Nuggets.
  • Former Connecticut Huskies Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva have officially been reunited in Detroit after signing their contracts with the Detroit Pistons.
  • Trevor Ariza has officially become the newest member of the Houston Rockets, having chosen the Space City over Cleveland.
  • The San Antonio Spurs have reached a verbal agreement with veteran forward/center Antonio McDyees.

    July 8 - 10:18 am

The moratorium was lifted at 12:01 a.m. so the free agent signing period is officially underway. We know multiple deals have been "reportedly agreed upon," but now it's time to put pen to paper. The Los Angeles Lakers were the first to do so, signing unrestricted free agent Ron Artest and then proceeded to hold on to Shannon Brown.

    July 7 - 10:25 am

There wasn't much action on Monday, other than ESPN reporting that the Cleveland Cavaliers were still trying to make a push for Trevor Ariza, even thought he reportedly has agreed to a deal with the Houston Rockets. However, Tuesday morning has seen some early action, with the Atlanta Journal Constitution reporting that Mike Bibby is on his way back to the Hawks after agreeing on a deal.

    July 5 - 11:15 pm

After a quiet day on the NBA free agent market, things picked up a bit this evening, with Rasheed Wallace's agent telling the Boston Globe that Wallace has verbally agreed to join the Boston Celtics. He wasn't the only free agent to reportedly agree to a contract Sunday night, as Jason Kidd has agreed to return to the Dallas Mavericks.

    July 4 - 10:30 am

Hedo Turkoglu reportedly has finally made a decision. He won't be going to Portland, but will instead sign with the Toronto Raptors, leaving Shawn Marion's status uncertain.

    July 3 - 9:50 pm

Hold up on that Hedo Turkoglu to the Blazers talk. After ESPN reported that Turkoglu had agreed to a deal with Portland, Yahoo Sports is now reporting that Turkoglu has backed out of his commitment to the Trail Blazers and has his sights set on Toronto.

    July 3 - 8:10 pm

It appears the fifth of our Top 10 unrestricted free agents is now off the board as Hedo Turkoglu has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. Rumor has it the Boston Celtics have also made an impressive pitch to forward/center Rasheed Wallace, so we're keeping track to see how that pans out as well.

    July 2 - 9:30 pm

It was a bit of a slow day with rumors flying rampant through the afternoon about where Ron Artest and Trevor Ariza might end up. But as the day draws to an end, it looks like we might have our answers. CBSSports.com was the first to report that Artest has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers, while ESPN is saying that Ariza has reached a verbal agreement with the Houston Rockets. That makes four of our Top 10 Unrestricted Free Agents that have verbally agreed to deals in the last 48 hours. Who will be next?

    July 1 - 7:45 pm

Big update in now with the Detroit Pistons apparently the first to dive headfirst into the free agent market. Reportedly, the Pistons have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agents Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. Following the trade of Chauncey Billups last season, this continues Joe Dumars' work of overhauling this Detroit squad. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, Dumars has up his sleeve next.

    July 1 - 4:30 pm

The 2009 NBA free agent season officially kicked off today and teams are able to begin talking to free agents and receive verbal commitments. However, nothing can be officially announced until the NBA's moratorium is lifted on July 8. Still, that hasn't kept the first few hours of free agency moving fast and furious, and we're keeping you up to date here on bobcats.com.
The Utah Jazz have made the most noise thus far, as Carlos Boozer is exercising his player option and will remain with the team for the 2009-10 season. Mehmet Okur also decided to return to the team next season when he declined to exercise his early termination option.
Kobe Bryant will play for the Los Angeles Lakers again next season after he decided not to exercise an early termination option of the last two years of his contract.
Anderson Varejao chose not to exercise the final year of his contract, and will become an unrestricted free agent.
The San Antonio Spurs will have Michael Finley back for his fifth season with the team after he held the option on his contract for the 2009-10 season.
As for the Bobcats free agents - Raymond Felton ranks as our No. 2 restricted free agent. Charlotte General Manager Rod Higgins announced on June 23 that the Bobcats have extended a qualifying offer to Felton, so we'll see what happens.
Keep checking back to bobcats.com as we'll continue to update you as news rolls in.
