RUFUS' BIOGRAPHY
Charlotte Bobcats mascot Rufus Lynx uses all of his natural-born talent to entertain, excite and amaze fans of all ages with his unique brand of high-flying, slam-dunking action. There’s more, too, as his zany and fun-loving stunts are displayed throughout the arena. Those of you who have witnessed this furry but lovable character at Time Warner Cable Arena or out in the community can positively testify to his character.
And though his family of lynx rufus (he took Latin in school and told us that’s what bobcats are called) is the most widespread wild cat in the state, Rufus Lynx is unique. His fur is an exact match to the team’s signature “Bobcats Orange” color and his agility includes an amazing set of paws that can quickly adapt from dancing feet to dunking feats. Nocturnal by nature, Rufus Lynx is both cool and comfortable as he wears his shades all day long. This hip team player will even use his natural characteristics to distract opposing NBA teams while entertaining all fans with wide-ranging interests.
Residing in the SouthPaw area of Charlotte, Rufus Lynx is an extraordinary cat with plenty of personality. He is a secretive prowler with keen eyesight and masterful senses. With those two attributes intact, Rufus likes to ambush his prey with short bursts of speed and agility, making him the consummate NBA-game predator. Using his soft padded feet, Rufus will sneak up on all Charlotte Bobcats opponents when it’s his time to pounce. It’s well-known that bobcats can leap 10 feet without any problems, but Rufus Lynx reaches even higher heights.
There is an unbelievable soft side to Rufus Lynx and he loves interacting with people of all ages. Night in and night out, Rufus Lynx will prowl Time Warner Cable Arena in search of true Bobcats fans. With a keen sense of hearing, he can immediately identify the most rowdy fans and also the quiet ones who need a little assistance. He really likes the rowdy fans, so you should make sure he can hear you from every point of the arena.
At first glance, Rufus appears in his orange color fur, dark sunglasses and high-top sneakers. Underneath his exterior is the heart of a lion, the strength of 10 men and the greatest enthusiasm in the NBA.
