Carolinas All-Star Classic Moves to Charlotte Bobcats Arena

February 7, 2008 - Charlotte Bobcats Arena will host the 11th Annual Carolinas All-Star Classic, presented by Lowe's Home Improvement, on Saturday, April 5. The high school basketball boys and girls doubleheader, organized by the North Carolina Coaches Association (NCCA) and South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association (SCACA), will feature some of the best talent from each state.

Carolinas All-Star Classic alumni include NBA All-Stars Josh Howard of the Dallas Mavericks and David West of the New Orleans Hornets.

“It is an honor to host the Carolinas All-Star Classic, presented by Lowe’s, and a terrific opportunity to celebrate the game of basketball played in North and South Carolina high schools,” said Donna Julian, Senior Vice President for Arena & Event Operations at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. “Charlotte Bobcats Arena is the perfect venue for an event like this one because we believe the Classic will evolve over time into one of the premiere high school all-star showcases in the country.”

Rosters for both games will be announced at the end of February.

“The NCCA, and its better than 6,300 members, are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase the athletes of North and South Carolina in an arena as special as Charlotte Bobcats Arena,” said Phil Weaver, Executive Director of the NCCA.

“This is a very exciting day as we elevate our interstate all star basketball games to a new level,” said SCACA Executive Director Keith Richardson. “Our coaches are very excited about this new partnership with Charlotte Bobcats Arena and continued efforts with the NCCA.”
