THE RESULT
Down 17 points in the second quarter, the Bobcats rallied back to cut the lead to 67-66 with 5:30 left in the third quarter. Unfortunately, Charlotte could never take the lead and a career night from J.J. Redick allowed the Magic to escape with the 102-95 victory on April 25 at Amway Arena in Orlando.
TURNING POINTS
A total of 10 first-half 3-pointers by the Orlando Magic allowed them to hold a 57-47 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, the Bobcats responded and on a D.J. Augustin 3-pointer brought the score to 67-66 Magic… However, Orlando responded with a 16-7 run to take a 83-73 lead into the final stanza… Three straight baskets by Gerald Henderson pulled the Bobcats back within five, but Henderson picked up his fifth foul with 6:26 left in the game… This allowed the Magic to go on another run and end up with the seven-point victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The main difference in the game was the Magic being able to hit 14 3-pointers, while the Bobcats only hit five… Even without Dwight Howard, the Magic were still able to outrebound the Bobcats, 47-37… The Magic did their work on the offensive glass, grabbing 15 offensive rebounds compared to the Bobcats, who were only able to pull down six…Both teams did a great job of making it count from the free throw line, with the Bobcats hitting 88 percent (28 of 32), while the Magic hit 79 percent (22 of 28)… Both teams handled the ball well, with each team turning the ball over 13 times.
BOBCATS PLAYERS OF THE GAME
For the seventh time this season, D.J. Augustin scored at least 20 points, finishing the night with 23 points and six assists.
Derrick Brown had another big night for the Bobcats, finishing the game with 16 points and five rebounds.
MAGIC PLAYER OF THE GAME
Ryan Anderson had a double double for the Magic, ending the night with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
GAME NOTES
Gerald Henderson (17), Tyrus Thomas (13) and Byron Mullens (11) all reached double figures in scoring for the Bobcats… Derrick Brown left the game late in the fourth quarter with a sprained ankle.
