The Bobcats third season may be winding down without their playoff hopes extinguished, but that isn’t stopping them from continuing to set franchise firsts.
Charlotte enjoyed career-bests from rookie Walter Herrmann and guard Alan Anderson, earning a 113-92 victory over the injury-riddled Bucks on Saturday – the Bobcats first-ever win at the Bradley Center.
In addition, it set a new mark for road wins (13) in a single-season and total number of victories (33). The victory was Charlotte’s last on the road and next-to-last game for Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff.
The Bobcats, winners of nine in their past 13, had three players score 20-plus points for the first time in over a month. Herrmann surpassed his 23-point career-high mark, also set against Milwaukee on March 30, notching a game-high 30 points, while Alan Anderson (24 points) and Derek Anderson (21) combined for 45 points. The trio shot 73.8 percent (31-42) and made all nine of Charlotte’s three-pointers.
With Milwaukee lacking a true frontcourt presence, the Bobcats went small, using a guard-filled lineup that consistently drained shots from the perimeter. The results led to Charlotte scoring 100-plus points for the first time ever in Milwaukee and shooting 60 percent (48-80) – its second best mark this season.
Raymond Felton scored 13 points and divvied out a game-high nine assists, while Emeka Okafor added 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Alan Anderson, who also matched a career-best eight rebounds, scored 11 in the decisive third quarter when the Bobcats reeled off a critical 14-2 run. The second-year guard hit a trey when Charlotte opened the stanza with an 11-2 spurt, and then ignited the latter run with six points. Derek Anderson’s trey from the left wing extended the Bobcats lead to 81-64.
”It shows how unselfish we are as a team; and what we’re capable of when we share the ball,” Alan Anderson said. “It was real nice to have three guys score over 20. Anytime you do that, not too many teams lose.”
Milwaukee cut the lead to single digits early in the fourth quarter, but five straight Bobcats points, including one of Herrmann’s career-high six treys from the baseline, quickly erased a Bucks comeback attempt.
“(Herrmann) was feeling it tonight, offensively, and I give him a lot of credit,” Bickerstaff said.
"We know we have a lot of guys out. We know we have to step it up with a lot of energy and intensity."

Milwaukee (27-55) has dropped five of its past six games and is the current owner of the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference, mostly in part to injuries to leading scorer Michael Redd and fellow starters Charlie Villanueva, Andrew Bogut. All three are sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Mo Williams, battling a sore left knee, paced six Bucks in double figures with 16 points. Dan Gadzuric had 14 points and a game-best 14 rebounds for struggling Milwaukee.
Williams openly admitted to fans before the game that the Bucks, losers of 16 of their past 21 games, are already looking forward to next season.
“The second half of the game was pretty disappointing,” said Milwaukee guard Reuben Patterson. “Number one, the credit goes to them. In this league, there’s no doubt that the aggressor wins. And the team that plays harder almost always wins, and tonight it was them.”
Charlotte, however, would like for the season to press on.
The Bobcats, arguably playing at a playoff caliber, have won five of seven and bypassed the Knicks in the Eastern Conference standings. Despite playing without two starters and three part-time starters, including leading scorer Gerald Wallace (knee tendinitis) for the second straight game, the Bobcats are 7-3 in their last 10 games, tied for the third best in the Eastern Conference during that same span.
Charlotte (33-48) has won nine of its past 14 games and is 6-0 when they break the 110-point plateau. The Bobcats matched a franchise-record 39 assists, a mark it previously set on March 12.
“We weren’t holding the ball,” Alan Anderson said. “When we caught the ball we moved it, we went to the basket and didn’t hesitate. We gave it up to the open man and hit shots.”
Bickerstaff, the only head coach the Bobcats have had, will be on the bench for likely the last time when the Charlotte hosts New York in the season finale at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will be broadcast on MyTV 12 and Mix 106.1 FM. Get your tickets now, as all fans in attendance will receive Fan Appreciation Night T-shirts courtesy of Sprite.
