THE RESULT
The Bobcats put up a good fight against the top team in the Western Conference but couldn’t break the Spurs eight-game win streak, eventually falling 102-78 on January 30 in San Antonio. Ramon Sessions led the Cats in scoring off the bench with 20 points, while Kemba Walker added 16 of his own.
TURNING POINTS
The first turning point in this one was the second quarter where the Bobcats only managed to score 14 points, going into halftime down by 12… The Spurs kept the score in double digits the rest of the way, but the Cats did manage to get it down to a 10-point game with 3:54 to play after Ramon Sessions converted on a 3-point play. After that, the Spurs went on a 15-1 run to finish the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
In a game where both sides had trouble holding onto the ball, the Bobcats converted 34 points off 23 Spurs turnovers, while San Antonio only managed 23 points off the Cats 24 miscues. However, The Spurs made up for this by dominating down low, outscoring the Cats, 48-24, in the paint and taking the rebound battle, 35-32… The Cats had a tough time defensively against the Spurs, allowing them to shoot 55.1 percent (38-for-69) from the floor and 56.3 percent (9-for-16) from beyond the arc. The Bobcats shot 41.1 percent (30-for-73) for the game and 21.1 percent (4-for-19) from long range, with all four of the 3-pointers coming in the second half.
BOBCATS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Kemba Walker, who is set to play in the 2013 Rising Stars Challenge during All Star Weekend, finished with 16 points on 6-for-13 shooting while tying for a team-high six boards and four assists while also swiping two steals.
BOBCATS TOP RESERVE
After only managing seven points in the previous game, Ramon Sessions stepped up once again for the Bobcats, leading the team with 20 points. Sessions also added three rebounds, three steals and an assist.
SPURS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Tony Parker proved why he is once again on the All Star team, putting up 22 points on 9-for-10 shooting. Parker dished out seven assists, swiped three steals and pulled down two rebounds.
GAME NOTES
In his second start for the Bobcats, Jeff Adrien finished with seven points, tied for a team-high six rebounds and went 5-for-6 from the charity stripe… Rookie Jeffery Taylor had a solid game with nine points on 4-for-8 shooting to go with four assists, three rebounds, two steals and no turnovers… Ben Gordon finished in double figures with 11 points, all in the fourth quarter including two 3-pointers. He added three assists, one rebound and one steal… Tyrus Thomas (left knee contusion) and Byron Mullens (ankle) were inactive.
