THE RESULT
Gerald Henderson and Byron Mullens led the Cats with 12 points apiece and all 12 Bobcats who played found the score sheet in a 119-83 loss on March 3 in Sacramento.
TURNING POINTS
After starting off strong in the first quarter, the Bobcats struggled to get shots to fall in the second. Charlotte shot 4-for-17 – only 23.5 percent of their shot attempts in the second frame. The Kings closed the first half with a 17-2 run in the final five minutes, earning them a 14 point advantage (54-40) heading into the third quarter…Sacramento continued their momentum in the third quarter connecting on 52.0 percent of their shot attempts and knocking down seven shots from behind the arc…The Kings outscored the Cats 43-19 in the third, pushing their lead out of reach for the Bobcats.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Charlotte opened the game connecting on 50.0 percent of their shots in the first quarter. However, the Bobcats struggled from the field, shooting only 36.3 percent and going 6-for-23 from long range in the contest. Sacramento shot well from the floor making 46.6 percent of their shots and knocking down 13 threes…Charlotte did a good job of getting to the free-throw line and converting, finishing 21-for-27 (77.7) from the charity stripe…The Kings held a giant advantage on the boards, outrebounding the Cats,60-31, including 18 offensive rebounds. Sacramento also held a huge advantage in points from 3-point territory (39-18). The Bobcats did a better job of taking care of the basketball committing 13 turnovers while forcing the Kings into 18.
BOBCATS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Byron Mullens tied for a team-high 12 points while pulling down two rebounds, dishing out two assists and tallying a steal.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist went 4-for-8 from the field and finished with 10 points. He also tied for a team-high with six rebounds and had one assist and a blocked a shot.
KINGS PLAYER OF THE GAME
John Salmons scored 19 points in the third quarter to help give the Kings their biggest lead. He finished with a game-high 22 points while grabbing three rebounds, distributing two assists and swiping a steal.
GAME NOTES
Gerald Henderson had a productive outing, finishing with 12 points, three rebounds and three assists. Rookie Jeffery Taylor scored nine points and came away with one steal…Kemba Walker finished with 11 points, six assists and two steals…Four Bobcats scored in double figures.
