THE RESULT
After an impressive run in the third quarter, the Bobcats couldn’t find a way to take control of the game in the final frame before losing to the Celtics, 89-100, on January 14 in Boston. Six Cats scored in double-figures lead by 16 points apiece from Hakim Warrick and Ramon Sessions as Charlotte threatened to put an end to the Celtics six-game winning streak.
TURNING POINTS
Despite getting down by 18 points in the second quarter, the Bobcats went on a 13-6 run into halftime to pull the game within 11… The Cats picked up where they left off to open the second half, going on a 13-2 run and tying the game at 58-58 after Hakim Warrick grabbed a steal, leading to a Michael Kidd-Gilchrist dunk… The Celtics responded by going on a 9-2 run and wouldn’t let the Cats get closer than four points the rest of the way.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Statistically, it was a tough night for the Bobcats on the road… The Cats were outrebounded (42-34), had less fast-break points (13-10) and less points in the paint (38-34)… Charlotte also struggled offensively for most of the game, finishing with 41.8 percent from the floor to Boston’s 48.8 percent… The Cats did grab eight steals, a bright spot for their defense, while also forcing the Celtics to commit 15 turnovers… In a game that saw much production from both benches, the Bobcats bench outscored the Celtics, 37-34.
BOBCATS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Hakim Warrick continues to impress in the paint, finishing with 16 points on 6-for-8 shooting to go with four rebounds, a season-high three assists and two steals.
BOBCATS TOP RESERVE
Ramon Sessions lead the bench in scoring with 16 points, including 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. Sessions also had four rebounds, three assists and a block in 24 minutes.
CELTICS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Rajon Rondo proved why he is an NBA All Star, notching his third triple-double of the season. Rondo finished with 17 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
GAME NOTES
Coach Mike Dunlap switched around the starting line up again tonight, giving Gerald Henderson the nod. Henderson finished with 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting, with two rebounds, two assists and two steals… Kemba Walker racked up 12 points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal… Ben Gordon added 12 points off the bench for the Bobcats along with two rebounds and an assist… Michael Kidd-Gilchrist also finished in double-figure scoring with 10 points while grabbing team-high eight rebounds.
