THE RESULT
Kemba Walker continues to excel in the preseason, putting together his second-consecutive 20+ point game at the 8th Annual Cool School Field Trip at Time Warner Cable Arena®, presented by Jordan Brand on October 25, 2012. Walker finished with 20 points, seven assists and no turnovers in the Cats 100-90 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

TURNING POINTS
Milwaukee controlled the tempo for much of the first quarter, but Ben Gordon came off the bench and hit back-to-back treys in the final minutes of the frame to give Charlotte a 22-20 lead heading into the second… Gerald Henderson led the Bobcats with 11 points in the first half, while Kemba Walker added 10 to give Charlotte a 55-43 lead at the break… The Cats hit 5 of 7 shots from the field and connected on five-straight free throws in the first four minutes of the third quarter to push their lead to 71-51… After building the 20-point lead at the 8:04 mark of the third, the Bobcats were outscored 31-10 as they shot just 4 of 21 (19.0 percent) from the field and turned it over four times leading to eight Bucks points. Milwaukee took the 82-81 lead with 8:46 remaining and would trail just one more time as they outscored Charlotte, 18-9, the rest of the way.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
It would have been tough for the Bobcats to shoot better from long range than they did in the first half against the Bucks. Charlotte finished 8 of 15 (53.3 percent) outside the arc in the first half, including 5 of 8 (62.5 percent) in the second quarter… Both Byron Mullens and Ben Gordon had two treys in the first half for Charlotte… The Cats 53.3 percent shooting from 3-point range in the first half was better than their 42.2 percent (19 of 45) shooting from the field… After connecting on eight treys in the first half, the Bobcats went 1 of 8 (12.5 percent) from long range in the second half… The Bucks extended their defensive pressure when the Cats went up 20 and the move paid off. Charlotte had just five turnovers for nine points prior to that point, but coughed it up four times for eight points when the Bucks made their run… With Tyrus Thomas sidelined with a right heel bruise, the Bobcats were thin up front and were outrebounded, 56-38.

BOBCATS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Kemba Walker’s confidence continues to grow with each passing game and it’s showing on the court. Walker finished with 20 points, seven assists, two rebounds and did not turn it over once. Walker also extended his range, hitting two 3-pointers, while playing solid defense on the other end.

BOBCATS TOP RESERVE
Brendan Haywood played 35 minutes off the bench for Charlotte. He finished with eight points and 13 rebounds, including seven offensive boards.

BUCKS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Doron Lamb was the Bucks third-leading scorer, but his points came when they mattered most. He scored all 12 of his points in the second half, including 10 in the decisive fourth quarter as Milwaukee made its run.

INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM
"What’s happening with Kemba right now is that he was a high draft pick, which we all know, and there is reason for that. His team won the national championship in college and everyone in this room can agree that he was the impetus for that championship. He’s an unusual player and he can do some things that are very special and with that talent, it has to be developed. The thing that’s probably not noticeable for a lot of people is his defense. He’s third on our deflection chart of actual hands on balls and doing some of the things we measure that are all positive acts defensively."
- Head Coach Mike Dunlap on Kemba Walker’s improvement

"The kids were great. I may need to sponsor a group and put all those kids up at the top because they had the place rocking. I played in Charlotte before (Cool School game) and that was probably the best it sounded. Those kids were great and had so much energy. It was great to see them."
- Center Brendan Haywood on how fun it was to play in front of the kids at Cool School

GAME NOTES
Head Coach Mike Dunlap used his seventh different starting lineup in seven preseason games, going small with Kemba Walker, Ramon Sessions, Gerald Henderson, Byron Mullens and Bismack Biyombo… Over 19,000 kids attended the 8th Annual Cool School Field Trip presented by Jordan Brand. The field trip is designed to reward students who excel in school by demonstrating outstanding performance, character and service in the classroom.

NEXT UP
The Cats now head to Dallas for an 8:30 p.m. tipoff on October 26 at American Airlines Center. Make sure to listen to the game on WFNZ.
