Charlotte Ready for Rematch with Celtics

Charlotte welcomes a rematch and a chance to even up the season series against Boston when the Celtics come to town at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22 for the two teams’ second meeting of the season.

The Bobcats suffered a heartbreaking 110-108 overtime loss in the first matchup on November 8 and at TD Banknorth Garden.

Charlotte clawed its way back into the game by outscoring Boston 26-18 in the fourth quarter to force overtime. However, a Delonte West jumper as time expired would prove to be too much and gave the Celtics the win.

The Bobcats had seven players score in double figures and will look for the same well-rounded attack when Boston comes to town.

Emeka Okafor led Charlotte with 28 points, 18 rebounds and two blocked shots, while co-captain Brevin Knight wasn’t too far behind with 22 points, seven assists, five rebounds and four steals.

Raymond Felton (12), Adam Morrison (12), Othella Harrington (10), Sean May (10) and Gerald Wallace (10) all scored in double figures, as well.

The Bobcats may be without the services of Knight, who missed the second half of Monday’s 93-85 loss to Dallas with a lower left calf strain.

Charlotte’s defensive intensity was able to rattle the Celtics last time out, causing them to commit 25 turnovers.

Paul Pierce and Wally Szczerbiak led Boston with 35 points each, while Ryan Gomes had a triple-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

Charlotte will look to build off its strong effort at home against the defending Western Conference Champion Mavs to get a big win and even up the season series with Boston.
