Former Charlotte Hornets season ticket holders of record will have priority seat selection for the Charlotte Bobcats 2004-2005 inaugural season at the Charlotte Coliseum, and 2001-2002 season ticket holders from the Charlotte Hornets final season at the Coliseum will be able to reclaim their exact seat locations. The announcement was made today by Ed Tapscott, Bobcats executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Former season ticket holders beginning with the 1997-1998 season will be contacted through direct mail by the Bobcats’ Ticket Sales office. The Bobcats were unable to recover information on former Charlotte Hornets season ticket holders from the 1988-1989 to 1996-1997 seasons and the organization is now on the hunt for those past season ticket holders.
“Together with the NBA, we want to make sure that those who supported professional basketball in Charlotte in the past have the first opportunity to select the seats of their choice for our inaugural Bobcats season in 2004-2005,” said Tapscott. “We realize how important season ticket holders are to the success of our franchise and we hope to reach out to as many loyal NBA fans as possible with a wide range of season ticket holder benefits, including season ticket discounts.”
Season ticket holders of record from the Charlotte Hornets final season at the Coliseum can retain their same seats from the 2001-2002 season with first priority for all seat upgrades, changes or additions. Former season ticket holders prior to the Hornets final season in 2001-2002 and Charlotte Sting season ticket holders of record will receive the next priority.
Season ticket holders from 1988-1989 through 1996-1997 unknown to the Bobcats organization will receive priority seat selection if they can provide proof that they were a former Hornets season ticket holder (such as season ticket invoice with name and address, season ticket stub with name and address, season ticket identification card or other dated season ticket account material). Fans with proof of a past season ticket account can call the team’s Fan Relations Department at (704) 424-4860, email info@bobcatsbasketball.com or log on to www.bobcatsbasketball.com for details on how to renew their season ticket holder status.
All season ticket holders for the 2004-2005 Charlotte Bobcats inaugural season at the Charlotte Coliseum will have priority seat selection for season tickets to the team’s first year in the new Uptown Arena in 2005-2006.
Season ticket holders for the 2004-2005 season will receive season ticket discounts for all Bobcats regular and preseason home games, priority for Bobcats playoff ticket sales, first option to purchase single game tickets at a discount up to 25 percent off, discounts on team merchandise, an invitation to an exclusive team party and more.
Season tickets will go on sale to the general public for the 2004-2005 season at the Charlotte Coliseum on November 1, 2003. Season ticket prices for the 2004-2005 season will range from $17 to $100 per game. Single game tickets will start as low as $10. The Bobcats average season ticket price will be $46 per ticket for their inaugural 2004-2005 season, which is approximately $7 below the NBA average season ticket price for the 2003-2004 season.
The Charlotte Bobcats of the National Basketball Association and the Charlotte Sting of the Women’s National Basketball Association are owned by Robert L. Johnson. The Charlotte Bobcats, who select fourth in the 2004 NBA Draft following an expansion draft of players from other NBA teams, will play their inaugural season in 2004-2005 at the Charlotte Coliseum before moving to Charlotte’s new Uptown Arena beginning with the 2005-2006 NBA season. The Charlotte Sting, who will continue to call the Coliseum home for two more seasons, will move into the new arena for the summer 2006 season.
