Yesterday after lunch I had a long photo shoot here in the new Bobcats uniform. I’m going to miss the big unveiling in Charlotte because I’ll be in Athens, so I took some pictures with the new uniform before I left. It felt good to put on the uniform and get a preview of what it will be like to put it on once the season gets started. I think fans are going to like our uniform. It has a little different look with some unique features that will set it apart and appeal to fans.
Last night I got a little treatment on my ankle and then just chilled. I went to dinner and had some seafood. Shrimp (which I love), scallops and sea bass. I tried some of the calamari that was on the table, but I’m not a big fan of it.
This morning I went through the workout before our team scrimmage against Puerto Rico. It felt good to get out there and test it out and to familiarize myself with the other guys. We went through the offensive plays with no defense, but at full speed. And my ankle was fine.
The offense has a lot of plays that you have to remember and it’s a little faster than I’m used to. Some of the plays are set for the big guys and others are for us to get the guards open for shots.
The scrimmage today was played in front of a couple thousand military troops and they loved it. Everybody here is representing their country in some way, but those guys are putting their lives on the line and we’re just playing a game. It was fun to be out here and entertain them. It’s an honor to wear the USA uniform.
Later on today, I’m going to relax and maybe hit the beach. My room is right on the beach, so I guess I have to check it out. I’ll be back tomorrow and let you know how it was.
