Bobcats Open Rookie/Free Agent Camp On June 29

The Bobcats will open their first-ever rookie/free agent camp on Tuesday at the Bobcats Basketball Center in preparation for summer league action.

Charlotte will practice twice a day through Saturday and then have a single practice session on Monday, July 5, before traveling to participate in the inaugural Minnesota Summer League from July 6-10 at the Target Center. In addition to the Bobcats and Timberwolves, the NBA Champion Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors will field squads. The summer league will feature a schedule of three games on each day, with every team playing each other once over the course of the event.

After returning to Charlotte for a few additional days of practice, the Bobcats will head West for the 2004 Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City, Utah. The event will take place from July 16-23 at Salt Lake Community College.

Joining the Bobcats and Jazz will be the Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs and the Seattle Sonics. Atlanta and Charlotte will open the 2004 Revue at 4:00 p.m. ET on July 16. The Bobcats are scheduled to play seven games during the tournament, with 35 games scheduled overall.

NBATV is scheduled to televise a number of games, including five Bobcats games on July 7 vs. Minnesota, July 8 vs. Milwaukee, July 20 vs. Indiana, July 22 vs. Chicago and July 24 vs. Utah.

Charlotte’s initial roster for the opening rookie/free agent camp includes both rookies selected in the 2004 NBA Draft (Emeka Okafor and Bernard Robinson), six players chosen in the Expansion Selection (Maurice Carter, Richie Frahm, Jason Kapono, Tamar Slay, Theron Smith and Gerald Wallace), four players from the open tryout camp (Maoustapha Diouf, Anthony Greenup, Patrick Jackson and Pierre Wooten) and 11 other free agents.
