Bobcats Announce Additional On-Air Talent For 2004-05 Season

October 5, 2004
The Bobcats have named Stephanie Ready, Henry Williams and Scott Lauer as additional on-air talent for the 2004-05 season.

“We have added three quality broadcast personalities to our organization,” said Bobcats President and Chief Operating Officer Ed Tapscott. “Stephanie and Henry will enhance the in-game fan experience with their knowledge and engaging character and Scott will be an able host for radio listeners during breaks in the game.”

Stephanie Ready is the Bobcats television sideline reporter, responsible for providing in-depth coverage from courtside for all telecasts this season. She will also supply features on players, coaches and front office personnel for each of C-SET’s 60 pregame, halftime and postgame shows, as well as Bobcats’ weekly news and information shows.

Ready joins the Bobcats organization after serving as assistant coach for the Washington Mystics of the WNBA. Prior to her appointment with the Mystics, she was assistant coach of the Greenville Groove of the NBDL, making her the first woman to coach in men’s professional sports. She helped guide the team to the league’s inaugural season championship in 2002 before serving as a television analyst and reporter on NBDL telecasts.

She spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball program at Coppin State College in Baltimore, MD, becoming the first female to hold the position of full-time recruiting assistant on a NCAA Division I men’s basketball staff. Ready was a four-year starter on the women’s basketball team at Coppin State and graduated cum laude.

Henry Williams joins the Bobcats radio broadcast team, providing color analysis alongside Steve Martin on WNMX - MIX 106.1 FM, the team’s flagship station, and all games heard across the Bobcats radio network.

No stranger to the local basketball scene, Williams starred at UNC Charlotte from 1988-92 and remains the 49ers’ all-time leading scorer with 2,383 points. The school has also retired his #34 jersey.

Williams was drafted in the second round (44th overall) of the 1992 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs, but spent the majority of his professional career in Europe. During his 10-year overseas career, Williams played for Verona, Benetton and Naples, winning six European championships, and posting a career scoring average of 20.2 points.

Currently, he is the Pastor of New Zion Missionary Church in Charlotte.

Scott Lauer will serve as the studio host for Charlotte’s radio broadcasts on WNMX – MIX 106.1 FM and the radio network. He will handle the 30-minute pregame show, halftime and postgame wrap-up programs.

Lauer most recently served as play-by-play announcer for the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians of the International League. He also served as play-by-play announcer for several other minor league baseball and basketball teams throughout his career. His sports broadcasting experience also includes KWOX in Woodward, Oklahoma, and the SportsFans Radio Network, where he served as anchor, host and producer. Lauer is a graduate of Ithaca College.
