Chris Munford Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
“We are very fortunate to add Chris to our staff, because he understands the dedication and physical demands required for athletes to perform at their highest level, and the fact that he was once a professional athlete gives him a unique perspective on how much physical exertion a player is able to endure,” said Bickerstaff.
A specialist in the field of strength and conditioning since 1995, Munford is the owner and operator of Corporate Productivity Enhancement Consulting (CPEC). He founded the company in 1993 with three different entities including CPEC Corporate (general wellness solutions for corporations and small business), View From Above (in-home personal training) and Sports Specific Performance Enhancement (elite athlete performance activities).
“I feel my personal experiences as a former professional athlete, coach and personal trainer have given me the added advantage of understanding the psyche, mindset and work ethic required of professional athletes and I look forward to the challenge of working with the Bobcats players for years to come,” said Munford.
Munford received his Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia and certification as Athletic Performance Specialist from the Sports Movement Science Performance Institute in San Francisco, California.
Prior to starting CPEC, Munford played professional football in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Hamilton Tiger Cats Football Club (1989-90), Toronto Argonaut Football Club (1990-93) and Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club (1993). During the 1991 season with Toronto, he was the starting free safety on the Argonauts Grey Cup Championship team.
