Bobcats Jersey To Be Showcased In Triple-A Baseball Game

The Charlotte Knights minor league baseball club will wear the Charlotte Bobcats’ newly-introduced jerseys on Saturday, August 21, in a home-game contest against the Norfolk Tide at 7:15 p.m. at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, S.C. This is believed to be the first time in minor league baseball history that a team has worn an NBA basketball jersey as its uniform top.

The Knights, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, will wear authentic Bobcats jerseys with the “Charlotte” wordmark in place of the team’s normal game jersey. Each Knights player will wear their regular game number on their Bobcats jersey, and a silent auction will be held at Knights Stadium during the game where fans can bid on the jerseys, which will be signed after the game by the Knights player who wore it. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Bobcats Charitable Foundation.

Bobcats player Gerald Wallace will throw out the first pitch wearing his new Bobcats uniform jersey.

The Bobcats will unveil their new team uniforms on Saturday, August 21, 2004, at 12:00 noon at an open fan event at SouthPark Mall. The mid-day uniform unveiling event will also feature autograph sessions with Bobcats players, performances by the Bobcats Dance Team, entertainment by the team’s mascot Rufus Lynx, and merchandise sales.
