THE RESULT
The Bobcats traveled to Kansas City to take on the defending champion Miami Heat in preseason action and fell, 86-75. Al Jefferson led the way for the Cats with 11 points and seven rebounds but left the game in the third quarter with a sprained right ankle. He will be re-evaluated on Saturday. Jeffery Taylor added 10 points, three rebounds and two steals in the loss.

TURNING POINTS
Anyone who’s watched an NBA game knows it doesn’t take much for LeBron James to take over a game for the Heat at any given moment. The Cats were able to keep James in check early, getting out to a 16-14 lead before Michael Beasley took control for Miami, scoring six of its next 10 points on a 10-0 run that gave the Heat an eight-point cushion. From there, James took over, scoring 16 of his 20 points in the first half on 6-for-10 shooting to help stake Miami to a 48-35 lead at halftime.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Charlotte got off to a slow start from the field, going 8-for-21 (38.1 percent) compared to the Heat’s 10-for-19 (52.6 percent) start in the first quarter. That discrepancy continued throughout, as Charlotte finished the game shooting 38.0 percent (27-for-71) to Miami’s 44.7 percent (34-for-76)… The Bobcats had tremendous balance on the score sheet with 12 players scoring and eight – Al Jefferson (11), Jeffery Taylor (10), Gerald Henderson (nine), Cody Zeller (nine), Kemba Walker (seven), Ben Gordon (seven), Bismack Biyombo (six) and Josh McRoberts – all finishing with at least six points… Charlotte’s solid team defense continues in the preseason. After surrendering 33 points to the Hawks in the first quarter on Oct. 8 in Asheville, the Cats have now held their opponents to an average of 18.4 points in the last seven quarters.

HEAT PLAYER OF THE GAME
Not shockingly, it was LeBron James who carried the Heat in this one with a game-high 20 points, four rebounds and two assists. He was the catalyst for helping Miami build its lead in his 24 minutes of play.

GAME NOTES
Bismack Biyombo was extremely efficient in his time on the court replacing Al Jefferson following his injury. Biyombo finished with six points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting from the charity stripe and added four rebounds and two blocks in 12 minutes off the bench… Cody Zeller continues to fill the stat sheet for the Cats. He scored nine points, grabbed five boards and dished out three assists in 26 minutes.
