Offseason Workout Video | Other Workouts
With Charlotte’s 2008 Training Camp on the horizon, the players can’t wait to get things going as the franchise enters its fifth season, and first under new Head Coach Larry Brown. Over the course of the summer, the Bobcats commitment to improving has been evident at Time Warner Cable Arena, with all 14 players under contract having been seen in the weight room and out on the practice court getting a workout in. Through it all, bobcats.com has been there catching up with the players as they prepare to head to Wilmington, NC, on September 29 for training camp.
Adam Morrison missed the 2007-08 season after surgery to repair a torn ACL in his
left knee but has been looking good in recent workout. Here's what he had to say about how he's feeling and
how excited he is to get back on the court.
bobcats.com: Adam, talk to us about things are going. We saw you out in Vegas working out, how have things progressed since then?
Morrison: Pretty good. The knee is still getting better. A lot of it is just confidence on the knee and feeling mentally that it’s prepared and ready. You just have to keep working at it.
bobcats.com: Watching you out there, it’s not really the shot that we’re looking at, we’re looking at how you’re reacting in your cuts and things like that. It doesn’t seem like there’s any hesitancy from you out there.
Morrison: Yes, right now, just working out, there’s not really hesitancy, but the biggest thing is going live, so I have to figure out how it’s going to go when I go live against other people. It’s still another test I have to go through. I still have a good month before training camp and then obviously another month in training camp to get it right before the season.
bobcats.com How good does it feel to knowing that you are nearing the end of this process and are going to be out on the court soon?
Morrison: It feels great. Last year was a long year, not having any injury before and then being out the whole year, it makes for a long year. I was lucky enough to get healed up and get ready to play.
bobcats.com We’ve see a lot of guys out here so far this offseason. Talk about Matt (Carroll) coming out and doing these workouts with you. How beneficial is that?
Morrison: It’s good. At first my wind was terrible obviously because I didn’t do anything, so having another person in there helps you gradually get into it. Matt likes to get better to and Matt loves to play, so it’s good having him out here.
bobcats.com: How excited are you to play for Larry Brown this year knowing what he brings to the table? Morrison: It’s going to be great. You can look at his track record and he’s been successful everywhere he’s been. We need a coach that’s hard-nosed and a guy who has a good track record. It’s going to be good for our team. Hopefully we can play up to his level.
bobcats.com:When you look at how many guys have come in so far this offseason and how hard the guys are working what can you say about the commitment that this team is showing to improving this year?
Morrison: It’s obviously there. We kind of had a disappointing season last year. We know the playoffs are within our reach, but you have to put in that extra work. I think guys are starting to realize that and Coach Brown coming in is just going to give us that extra boost. It’s good to see that guys are trying to get better and work at it.
