2008-09 Lady Cats Dance Team Audition Guidelines

Who: Dancers who want to be a part of one of the NBA’s most exciting dance teams!
Date: Prelims start Sunday, August 10
Location: Time Warner Cable Arena
333 East Trade Street
Charlotte, NC 28202
Time: Registration begins at 11 a.m.
Auditions start promptly at 12:00 p.m.
Be prepared to stay until 6:00 p.m.
What To Wear: You must wear a midriff top, shorts
and flesh-colored tights or panty hose.
Tennis shoes or dance shoes recommended.
Bring a warm-up suit to cover up while waiting.
What To Bring: Bring a current photo (any size)
Bring resume (if applicable)
Bring a Valid ID

AUDITION SCHEDULE (You must be able to attend all events as a finalist)

  • Preliminary rounds: August 10
  • Boot Camp: Evenings of August 11-August 13
  • Professional Interviews: August 11-August 13
  • Finals: August 14

    REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have graduated from high school or received a G.E.D.
  • Must have on proper audition attire

    AUDITION DAY TIPS

  • You MUST wear midriff top, dance shorts and flesh tone stockings
  • Failure to wear recommended attire may result in elimination
  • NO THONGS or bikini tops will be permitted
  • Make sure your outfit is comfortable and fits securely
  • Be prepared for a long day -- bring snacks and water
  • Dancers will be required to submit a photo that will not be returned
  • Bring a warm up suit/cover-up

    REHEARSALS

  • Two to three times a week from August 2008 - May 2009
  • Dancers not able to commit to rehearsals and games are asked not to audition

    RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Dancers will participate in home games, home playoffs and NBA Championship games
  • Dancers must be able to attend scheduled Charlotte Bobcats events and promotions
  • Each dancer is required to participate in a minimum number of charity and sponsor appearances throughout the season.
  • Any dancer missing multiple games or rehearsals is subject to dismissal from the squad.
  • Dancers must be present at all home games in which they are scheduled 2 1/2 hours prior to tipoff for pregame rehearsals.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    What should I do to prepare for the tryouts?
    We suggest taking jazz & hip-hop classes to prepare you to learn choreography at the audition. We are looking for well-rounded dancers that are able to dance a variety of styles to a variety of music.

    What are your height and weight requirements?
    There are not specific requirements, but team members are required to be in top physical shape and excellent health.

    Is there an age limit or education requirement?
    Dancers must be at least 18 years of age
    Dancers must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D.

    Can my family come and watch auditions?
    No, auditions are closed to the public.

    What will the judges look for at auditions?
    Entertainment factor and dance ability
    Physical fitness and crowd appeal
    Dynamic personality and excitement over Bobcats Basketball

    What should I expect from the interview process?
    Be prepared to introduce yourself and answer a few key questions
    Be familiar with Bobcats milestones and the NBA

    How should I wear my hair and fix my make-up?
    Your hair and make-up should be performance quality. Go for glamour!

    Will there be compensation?
    Yes, dancers are paid for home games, promotions and rehearsals

    What is the time commitment and is this a full-time job?
    This is a part-time job that can have full-time hours during the season
    Dancers that are unable to commit to rehearsals and games should not audition

    Do I have to pre-register for the audition?
    Yes, you must email your name, contact information, and phone number to ladycats@bobcats.com
