Bobcats, Kia Celebrate Creativity

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment (BSE) and Kia Motors America, Inc. (KMA), the Official Automotive Partner of the NBA, celebrated the successful conclusion to their first season as partners at last Wednesday’s regular season finale of the Bobcats’ 2007-08 season.

The partnership included signage at Time Warner Cable Arena, a promotional vehicle display on the concourse, “Kia Country” branded sections with noisemakers, test drive with ticket giveaways, and a sweepstakes campaign to find the Bobcats’ “ultimate fan”. In that campaign, fans were encouraged to submit homemade videos demonstrating what made them the ultimate Bobcats fan. The winner, David Arnott from Charlotte, wrote a song, including music and lyrics, about being a Bobcats fan and then produced a music video as his entry in the contest. He won $5,000 cash, and the video is shown on bobcats.com and played in-arena during Bobcats home games.

“Creative activation is the cornerstone of our partnership with Kia Motors,“ said BSE President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Whitfield. “Kia has developed an outstanding reputation by putting quality, innovation and value into each car they build, and our partnership with them is built on those same principles.”

With one year remaining on the original two-year partnership, Bobcats fans can expect more creativity from next year’s activation elements.
