Jr. Bobcats Host Youth Coach’s Clinic

The Jr. Bobcats Program hosted its first of two Coach’s Clinics for the season on Monday, December 4, for approximately 115 youth basketball coaches of all experience levels that coach in a Jr. Bobcats member league.

The clinic was hosted in the Presbyterian Hospital Training Center located at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena with Bobcats assistant coaches John-Blair Bickerstaff and Gary Kloppenburg serving as instructors.

The topics of the clinic included off-court principals of coaching basketball at the youth level, promoting sportsmanship, focusing on the fundamentals, promoting fun and keeping education first.

The on-court topics included running an effective and organized practice, defensive drills, boxing out drills, ball handling drills, shooting drills, offensive drills, team offense, and team defense.

The purpose of the Jr. Bobcats Program is to use the resources of the Charlotte Bobcats as a platform to promote healthy participation in youth sports. The slogan for the program is “Play Hard. Have Fun.”

If you missed this event and would like to attend the second Jr. Bobcats Coach’s Clinic on January 8, please email Jonathan McIntyre to RSVP at jmcintyre@BobcatsSE.com or call 704-688-8874.
