Help Give Gerald Wallace A Nickname
![]() |
He dunks with force. He steals with catlike quickness. He soars to swat opposing shots with authority. He risks his body without a second thought almost every time down the court. If you’re sitting in the first five rows, don’t be surprised if he ends up in your lap. He might be one of the only people on the planet who can actually fly.
And now, he’s back.
After missing 15 games with a left medial tibia bone bruise, forward Gerald Wallace returned to the court in Portland on Wednesday night and didn’t miss a beat. He finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, four blocks and two steals in 28 minutes off the bench to help lead the Bobcats to a 110-106 victory.
Anybody who has ever watched a Bobcats game can tell you there are few players in the NBA who play with the intensity, energy and emotion that Wallace brings every night -- every minute that he’s on the court.
He leads Charlotte with averages of 14.5 points and 2.24 blocks, while shooting a team-best 54.3 percent shooting from the field. He’s second on the team with averages of 7.0 rebounds and 2.42 steals, and is the only player in the NBA to average over two steals and two blocks.
Now it’s time for Bobcats fans to give the 6-7, 215-pound co-captain some help.
Wallace has agreed to let the fans help find him a new nickname via BobcatsBasketball.com. Some nicknames that have come up include Crash, Elastic, G-Motion, Crunch, Blast, Speed, Tuff, Ice, Strider, Spring, Breeze, Energy, Wrecker, Look Out, G-Force, Sparkplug and Multiplicity.
But that doesn’t have to be it. Send your emails to insider@BobcatsSE.com to tell us what your favorite nickname is or to toss out a suggestion of your own. We’ll break the list down to five names next week after hearing what you think and post a poll on BobcatsBasketball.com for fans to vote on their favorite nickname. So let us know what you think and cast your vote next week.
