Carolinas Caravan Makes First Stop

On Tuesday, September 20, Bobcats guard Brevin Knight, Director of Player Programs Dell Curry and radio play-by-play voice Steve Martin traveled to Spartanburg, South Carolina and Asheville, North Carolina in an effort to spread to goodwill throughout North and South Carolina. The trip was the first of three stops the Bobcats will make on their Carolinas Caravan tour.

The outing to Spartanburg featured a stop at Whitlock Junior High School, where Knight, Curry and Martin spoke to an assembly of nearly 80 student athletes about achieving success inside the classroom and being solid citizens. Students who answered trivia questions correctly received Bobcats prize packs and all walked away with Bobcats T-shirts.

Following the stop in Spartanburg, the group voyaged to Asheville, where Knight and Curry signed autographs at Wild Wing Café, before taking in some lunch. Finally, the Caravan stopped off at Asheville Mall for another autograph signing by Knight and Curry. The mall appearance also saw Knight, Curry and Martin appear on Bobcats radio station affiliate WISE 1310 AM’s show "The Wise Guys."

The Caravan’s remaining stops are slated for Tuesday, September 27, in Winston-Salem and Thursday, September 29, in Raleigh-Durham.
